When I dance I feel free
As light as can be
My room door shut
So no one can interrupt
I turn my music up loud
And dance for my imaginary crowd
When I'm done
Everyone is momentarily stunned
And after a moment
Of everything being frightfully silent
The crowd roars with applause
I begin to take a bow then I pause
I look up
And my heart gives a jump
I'm getting a standing ovation
I want look at one person
The one who seemed to watch
With eyes like a hawk
He was on his feet too
Clapping and cheering like your family would do
When I finally get back to my dressing room
So very soon
I hear a knock at my door
And I wondered what anybody needed me for
The door is slowly opening
And I sit there hoping
It's that guy
Then I open one eye
And I see my little brother
Eyes sparkling with laughter
I realize I'm back in my room
And I think
Oh no if he saw that I'm doomed
