"help! please somebody." 9 year old kara was strapped down to a medical table. men and women around her were wearing surgical masks. "what's going on?" the people exchanged looks and an elderly man came from the back with a syringe filled with a blue liquid. "text subject 262, injection 9 of 10."

the lady next to him nodded her head and wrote something down on her clipboard. the man walked closer to kara and grabbed her arm, sticking the syringe into her arm. kara flinched from the prick in her arm and started feeling a rush. suddenly, she could hear the doctors blood pulsing. she could count all the pores on the the doctor that had injected her. everything moved faster and faster around her until she could no longer take it and blacked out.

kara jolted awake. she knew it was the middle of the night so she didn't bother to check the time. another sleepless night because of whatever was going in her head. it was getting so bad that she stopped hunting for a week to get her mind off of her abilities. she couldn't decipher what was real and what was fake. when she would stare at her reflection, her mother was standing next to her.

she no longer cared about what her house looked like. broken mirror shards littered her floors, curtains drawn over her windows so no light could shine through. dean and sam checked on her every single day whether it was a call, text, or a visit. castiel still came by to help get rid of the nightmares and hallucinations. he knew every dream she had but knew something was up with the ones she was having lately. they were memories.

castiel knew this because dreams were more lucid and made up while memories couldn't be. "kara, these dreams you have been having are not dreams. in fact, they are memories." kara buried herself deeper into her blanket and texted dean what cas had told her. he texted back that they would be there as soon as they could."is there anyway we can, i don't know, get them to stop. and how do i not remember any of this happening? if it was a memory then i would've known about it. i just don't get it cas."

castiel awkwardly wrapped his arms around kara and patted the top of her head. "if you want me to, i can put you in a sleep and drag your memories out. the down side of this whole experiment would be that you may get stuck in your head and i wouldn't be able to bring you back." kara weighed her options. she needed to know what she was and if that meant she wasn't coming back then oh well.

* * *

kara was attached to an IV just in case her liquid level went down. "ok i am going to give you 10 minutes. then a door will appear for you to walk through. if you do not walk through you will be stuck." kara nodded her head and closed her eyes. castiel put his index and middle finger in the middle of her forehead and transported her to her mind.

it was dark and cold. a light was shining far away from where she was standing. she followed it, feeling the walls around her and taking time so she wouldn't injure herself. when she got to the end of the tunnel, her mother laid in a hospital bed and her father sat in a chair next to the bed. but this wasn't a hospital. it was a lab.

the doctor that was in her previous memory came in carrying a baby. kara. the scene changed to when she was 3. she was sitting in the same doctors office with her parents. he was walking around the room with a syringe of blue. little kara was too busy looking around that she didn't notice the injection. "injection 3 of 10."

her mom turned to look at the infant and spoke, "it's your fate. you'll thank me one day." and kissed the top of her head. once again, the scene changed to when she had just turned 10. her mother sat her in a chair at the same doctor once again. however this time she paid attention to more things. her mother's eyes were glowing and her fathers eyes were all black but he still sat there with his wife's hand in his own. the doctor injected her once again. "injection 10 of 10. injections are complete."

then it flashed to the day that started all of this. the day her parents were attacked. kara couldn't see the face of the attacker but could hear him talking as he slottered her parents. "where's the girl lucas?" her father shook his head and spit on the killers face."you'll never get my daughter."

 those were the last words that came out of her dads mouth before he was stabbed. sparks flew from where he was stabbed. he turned to her mother, "alright your turn abigail. where are you hiding her?" her mother shook her head and laughed. "you won't ever find my baby. she's hidden away from all harm. warded against everything."

"i will find that nephalem if it is the last thing i do."
