A New Addition

I wake up and it is still dark. I can't have been out for very long and I am the first one to be up and walking again, depending on how you view the meaning of walking. I can barely support any weight at all on my back legs, but it should be all right soon enough. Besides my legs I got rather deep cuts and bruises all over my body. I lay right next to Toboe and from a distance we must have looked as one while I was still laying down. That must have been why Darcia didn't find me.

I change into my human shape and start to check if the others are alive and start with Toboe, whom I am closest to. He is still alive and breathing, and relieved I start to drag myself over to the next to closest to me, to not put unnecessary weight on my legs. But as I reach Hige I see Kiba get up and look out at the sky towards where Darcia must have went with Cheza. I stop halfway there and look at Kiba.

"You are alive" I say relieved.

He doesn't say anything but look directly at me and a knot appears in my stomach. Cheza is gone, taken by a noble, and I didn't do anything to help, and soon I will have to answer for that. My secret can't remain a secret for very long now. The only question now is how long it will take before they have to know.

The others come back to it shortly after and we start to get up to back to the town in defeat. I have trouble getting up and Toboe reaches out a helping hand, which I silently, but thankfully accept. We then walk back in silence. No body feels like talking, not even Hige or Toboe, and everyone are sore and more or less wounded, Kiba being the worse. He appears to have almost as much trouble walking as me and I want nothing more to get to him and help him, to support him so that he doesn't fall over, whether it might be from blood loss, damaged limbs or a struck to the head. But I can feel it on him that he doesn't want it from us, that he just wants is to be left alone and maybe that is for the best. Since I myself is badly injured myself and struggle to remain standing myself I would probably only be in the way and make things even harder for him.

When we are almost by the town again my feet give in and I fall over, but Hige catches me and help me remain walking the rest of the way. In town we find an empty and slightly collapsed warehouse and without saying anything we decide to crash in it. We lay down and do our best to get some sleep, but when the morning comes none of us seem to have gotten much of it. None of us do much except letting out wounds heal in peace. Hige is the only one who talks but any attempts from his side to make us talk only results with Toboe as the only one to answer him, if you don't count with Tsume's responses or 'Whatever' and 'Shut up', while I and Kiba remains silent and don't say a word.

As the hours pas by Hige grows tired of our silence and leave for a walk, he says, but I suspects that he is simply going to look for food and if I know him right he won't return with anything for the rest of us. When he has been away for an hour or so I decide to get out too to find something to help us heal quicker. It is the least I can do after not doing anything earlier. My feet still haven't healed, but they are better than before and now I can hold myself standing and walk while limping. I manage to get myself to a pharmacy and look through the shelves for something useful. I find tubes of disinfection paste that should do the trick and manage to sneak it down in one of my pockets without anyone noticing. We wolves heal quickly and have no real need for bandages or something like that, unless we are really badly hurt. But only because we can heal quickly it doesn't mean that we have to trap any shit in there to make matters worse than they already are.

"Miss, are you all right?" someone next to me asks and I see a woman in a white coat, whom is looking at my cuts worried.

"Yeah, I'm fine" I answer her faking a smile. "Just met some asshole last night at the bar. It's nothing serious, it will heal"

"Well, let me know if you need anything" she says hesitating.

"Absolutely" I say and fake another smile before she leave me to help an old lady whom is looking at the shelves confused.
