Chapter 7: Introducing Shay

I awoke to find my head hurting. I looked around and i was in a city. Tall buildings, little decimated stores. There was no one around and the dead silence was killing me. I started to get up but my legs gave way. My legs felt heavy like anchors holding me down. I felt a tear run down my cheek and i quickly wiped it away. All that was running through my mind was how that girl only saved ryan. If i hadn't tried to escape who knows what those guys would've done to me.

All the thinking gave me a headache and i tried looking around for a way to walk around. What am i crazy this is an apocolypse like there'd be a wheel chair or crutches nearby. I shook my head at my own stupitidy. I just threw my head back and sighed. Im probably never gunna have a good life again will i? I started to cry and just wobbled my head around. I really don't want to be in this whole thing alone. All this thinking was distracting me from the stumbling sound i could hear in the next room. My heart pace got a little faster and i started to get scared.

I could hear the shuffling getting closer and closer until it stopped when it reached the door to the room i was in. I heard fiddling with the handle and i scooted over behind a dresser. When the door propped open a girl walked in. I realized it was that girl back who saved ryan. I could feel my hands ball into a fist. She just left me there to die and ran off with my best friend. I scooted out and she walked over to me.

"Your legs are pretty banged up. Nothing too serious just a little rest and you should be fine." i could hear her say.

"H..o...how...d.." i tried talking but my mouth was so dry and i couldn't get the words out.

"Dont try to hard. I'll bring you some water and come back a little later." and with that she walked out of the room.

I just grunted and i wanted to punch a wall. Why was she acting so nice she knows she just left me there and shes acting like none of it ever happened. Then i started wondering...where is ryan. Is he even here with her? Then she walked back into the room with a glass of water and some meat. I grabbed the water and chugged it down. I didn't realize how thirsty i was. I saw the meat and my stomach grumbled. It was about time ive seen food and i scarfed that down too.

She looked at me with a shocked expression and just started laughing.

"You were pretty hungry weren't you. Well im shay its nice to meet you." she put out her hand for a handshake. I could tell i can talk now because my throat isn't as dry anymore.

"You left me there." i managed to say while my voice was still a little groggy.

Her blank expression told me she had no words. Her nose scrunched up and her hands rolled into fists and she stormed out of the room. I didnt have any idea why she felt like that. I mean im the victim here...right? I could hear shouting in the distance. It was muffled so i couldn't understand what they were saying but im thinking it was about me.

Soon after the shouting died down and i could hear footsteps coming towards me. In walked in ryan. My face grew a wide smile and i just started crying while reaching for a hug. He just looked at me like i killed someone and he looked at me and just walked out. I had no words or thoughts. My expression faded. I was so confused, why did he do that?

Why was she so offended when i asked...how did ryan know her because he was obviously upset with me for something. And i think it has something to do with her. I need to find out about them before my relationship with ryan starts going downhill...and fast!

After a couple of hours passed i was getting bored out of my mind. I called out to them but no one answered. Ive been thinking about what i will say to ryan. Maybe something like look im sorry about earlier but whats her problem? Nah too harsh. What about hey im sorry but did i do something wrong? I wanted to get my point across without sounding like a little bit of a jerk. Well i had only a few moments to decide because shay walked in the room.

She brought a tray with more food and gave me some more water. Her eyes only glanced over to me a few times but other than that she was obviously not trying to look at me. I still hadn't thought of what to say to her or ryan but i need to tell her something now before she hates me forever.

"Uh hey...sorry about earlier...i didn't mean to offend you in anyway whatsoever...honestly" i then slowly let out my breath as she watched me.

"Look i didn't mean to just leave you there...but i NEEDED to get ryan out of there. You understand right?" she seemed a little bit more relaxed than earlier in the moment.

"Yea i understand" was all i could say. I didnt want to say that she still hasn't told me why she needs to save ryan but i didn't want to upset her again. She just nodded at me and walked out of the room.
