The committee of the elected Nazis sat around the round desk. The sounds of bombs exploding rattled the ground. But these Nazis were safe. They were in a secure underground bunker, ensuring their complete survival. There where passages going on for miles for a safe escape, and three weeks worth of food supply. The ceiling crumbled a bit and a wave of dust dropped down on the table. Coughs rattled across the room. As another boom was heard across the wide empty fields of Nazi Germany, the lights of the bunker flickered. The room became flooded with gasps. Then the murmurs came. They grew louder and louder until suddenly a man stood up and cleared his throat. Everyone turned their gaze to the standing man.
"It seems Adolf will not be meeting with us today" The man scanned the surprised eyes. The murmurs started again. The murmurs turned into loud speech, which then almost instantly morphed into yelling shouts.
"Settle down comrades. We shall continue on without him." The same man replied to the committee, attempting calm everyone down. He was the right hand in command. At least that is what Dr. Adolf Hitler had told him.
A man amongst the crowd stood up. Everyone stared at him. "Settle down? SETTLE DOWN ? How do you expect us to do that? The Nazis are loosing the damn war! And you know it yourself Heinz! Hitler could be as good as dead! And, what i--"
"Sit down Dierk!" Heinz had shot those words with such fear that once again the silence stopped. "We came here in order to discuss whether to launch Project Dominus. Now that Hitler is gone and we are on the brink of losing this war, we have no choice."
The people started talking rapidly. Another man stood up. "I think this idea is irrational and absurd. Releasing Dominus will kill off every single animal on this world. We won't be able to rule this world; ever."
"You think if the Americans get here, which evidently, they will, we will die either way. And they outsiders will be in peace." Heinz attempted to make several points. Project Dominus had been researched for one year now, and not using it in times like this would be suicide.
A man stood up and yelled over everybody's voices. "At least wait for Adolf before making such rash decisions!" Everyone nodded in return and looked at Heinz.
Suddenly the door lock opened. Heinz grabbed for his Pistole, but he heard known voices. Other Germans.
"Heinz! Dr.Heinz!" Yelled the newcomers. Everyone was puzzled as much as Heinz himself. The worry on the newcomers' faces were devastated. Had Americans defeated the army? Had the Russians won?
"What is it men? " Heinz shot out. He didn't want any disruption to this meeting. This meeting would ultimately decide the fate of the world, as well as humanity itself. And he needed to make a decision. And fast. The Nazi's were on a brink of loosing the war, and there was no way to win. Only bring others down with them. But Heinz was also scared. He was scared of bad news, and the look on the faces of the newcomers was terrified. Their eyes had the look of ultimate doom. The look that there was no more future of the Nazi's.
"It's Hitler sir! H-h-" The man was gasping for breath. He knelt down and quietly, almost embarrassed, and terrified to mutter. "He. We- we found his body o-"
"Is he alive?" shouted Heinz. But fore some reason he knew. That Adolf Hitler was not.
"It can't be!" Firtz stood up. "Is it true... That our leader has fallen?"
The man gave Firtz a look and nodded. Shouting began. Chaos took control of the room. Heinz looked at a man across the room. He was waiting for a sign, an order. Eager to do what he must. These were desperate times. The Reich had fallen. Heinz gave a nod to the man, who took out his set of keys. The man opened a door leading deeper into the vault.
The surface was now quite. The bombarding had stopped. The sound of crickets echoed throught the plains. Among the debris of what once was farming land, a hatch opened up. A pedestal holding a rocket was elevated up with a grim oozing sound. The rocket turned on in an orderly fashion, and shot off into the sky. This was no usual bomb. This rocket had been carrying an experimental virus, D-Z36, otherwise known as project Dominus.
From that night, the world was never the same.
