"Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents!" Grumbled young Amy.
"We ought to know that father is at work and mother is struggling to make us happy, Amy. You are twelve now. You should understand." Replied Meg with a sad look. "I miss father. He won't come home for Christmas! What will we do?" said Jo, with an annoyed look on her face. "Now, we must not be selfish, and just have fun with what we have. Jo, you are two years older than me aren't you? I might be thirteen but I know a plenty much." said shy Beth, with a fragile hand on Amy. "Amy we must practice our play." Said Jo strongly. "You are as stiff as a poker in that, and when you faint, you look like you are simply dozing off." "Well I'm sorry Jo, but I've never seen anyone faint before, and I don't chose to make myself all black and blue tumbling as flat as YOU do!"
"Come on Amy."
"Or playing those silly men in your silly plays of yours."
"Well, I hate affected little niminy piminies!"
"I-"
"Stop!" Interrupted Beth. "We must stop fighting over little things like this!" "Jo, lets keep calm, and carry on." Said Meg. "You act very boyish with all of your traits and you need to act like a lady. It didn't matter much when you were a kid, but you are much grown up now, and you need to act like it!" Jo frowned and had a guilty look on her face.
"And for you, Amy. You are growing up now and should know better."
"That's right. Peace on Christmas Eve I say!"
