Visis looked around. She was sat in the middle of a large courtroom, with all of her tribe sat either side of her the High Council ahead. Visis knew what this was; at the courtroom. So why was she locked in the defendant's chair, staring dumbly at the Council ahead of her? The entire room was silent. Not a thing moved and not a person spoke. 20 seconds into the silence, Visis broke it.
"Um... What am I doing here?"
Instantly two orcs, whom Visis had not noti stood stationery either side of her forcefully twisted their arms, pointing their swords right at Visis' neck
"Silence! The defendant is not permitted to speak unless directly addressed by a member of the High Council!" barked the guards, their voices eerily synchronised. *Defendant?* thought Visis. *What have I done wrong?*
However despite th many questions in her head, she had no doubt that the swords the guards were holding were no empty threat. One wrong move, or one move at all, she would go to the swords. She sat in uncomfortable silence as she waitesd for one of the council members to speak up.
"Elfguard number 20, Visis," started a member of the council (Cecilia, Visis thought her name was). "You are charged with the murder or manslaughter of Elfguard 36, Ceridwen. What do you plead?"
The words brought down a torrent of confusion on Visis. Murder? Manslaughter? What in the name of the Mother Tree were they talking about?
"Number 20, what do you plead?" repeated Envil, sat unimpressed in the middle.
"I plead to get out of this stupid chair!" she yelled stubbornly in reply, struggling against the thickly layered bamboo that was holding her wrists down. Cecilia nodded at one of the orcs by Visis' side, her face remaining stern but with a sadistic glint rising in her eye. The orc to the right of Visis swung his sword as if blindly at her throat, making a deep gash in her flesh, but not going so far she bleed (though the lilac liquid was only contained by a thin stretch of skin. The sword was withdrew and the room remained with a daunting silence over it.
