The Beginning

Julie had never really experienced life before.Well,she was living it.She was living it like any other 15 year old.But...it was the very normal kind (and also the very boring kind).Going to school,studying,getting fairly good grades (although I may be biased),having a little temporary fun with friends and family.Also going on vacation once a year.That was what consisted of her yearly routine.

Now you guys are probably thinking a lot of stuff.Stuff like,'why wasn't she content?At least she got to go on vacations!' or 'hey, that's exactly my life!'.Or 'ice cream!'

If you are one of those people I suggest you go get some ice cream.If you don't have any,then steal some from your neighbors.

The point is,Julie WASN'T satisfied.She wanted something exciting to happen in her ordinary,boring life.The only exciting thing that had happened to her until now had been when a you tuber had replied to her comment and she had freaked out.

Yes.She was totally obsessed with YouTube.

But something bizarre happened that day.

That day.

When Julie and her best friend,Jia,encountered the strange man in the garden today.

The one they saw everyday,but didn't register.

And it's more than safe to say that it had not been a very satisfying conversation.

They had been walking down the lane.Just normal 15 year old kids.Eating chocolate.

Nothing seemed conspicuous.

The park started to empty.It was about seven in the evening.But Jia and Julie usually stayed for a while because their homes were just around the corner.

That is when they heard a strange tapping.Coming from the bushes to their right.

They both glanced at each other and started towards the bush.

They looked behind the bush and saw a man,about 20,sitting in a comfortable position and tapping his phone against the ground.

He looked around and said,"There you are!Been waiting since ages."

Jia,being the bravest,said"Um...I think you've been mistaken.We weren't called here to meet anyone."

They backed away,feeling a little awkward.

"I know that.But I need to talk to you guys,so I'd appreciate it if you'd stay because I've worked hard for this",he said.

"Worked hard for what,exactly?",asked Julie.

He replied,"Just sit down,I'll explain things to you."

They both sat down reluctantly.

"How do we know we can trust you?We don't even know you!You can't just expect us to sit down and talk to you like old pals!",Jia exclaimed.

He didn't reply.He was too busy doing something on his phone.Probably looking through Twitter account to see how many re tweets he got.

Julie felt a spark of recognition.She had seen him somewhere...

"Aren't you the guy who helped us out after our car crashed into that other person's car?That person was really mad.And then you came along all dandy and argued with him and got us out of that big mess.My dad would't stop talking about how much you helped us and blah, blah, blah.We never even got to say thanks to you.You just...disappeared,"Julie said.

Jia looked at Julie,wide eyed,and back at the man.

"That's one of my qualities",he said,looking up and then down again."You're welcome.Can you trust me now?"He asked.

"Not really..."Julie said.

"Nah"

He sighed.

"I also helped you the night you almost got kidnapped",he said looking at Jia.

"What?I never got kidnapped."

"You almost did.Remember the night when a car almost ran into you and you were forced to run all the way back to your hotel?"He asked.

"That was in Los Angeles!My dad was there for some work.So...that was you?"Jia asked.

"Yup.That was me.The kidnappers were...actually you don't really have to know the details.But I pretty much saved your life that day."He said.

"So...you followed me to Los Angeles..."Jia said.

"Look,all you have to know is that you both have been chosen for a cause and because of this you are being targeted in other places,places where they think you have no protectors. This is a cause that is confidential in nature,so not a word about this to your parents or friends or whatever."

"I expect you have a day off next Wednesday?"He asked.

Dazed,Julie replied,"yep, we do".

"Good.Next Wednesday,12 AM, right here.Alright?"

"uh...okay."Jia replied.

And after that...life was never the same.
