The next day Andrea and Miranda walked to the Upstairs Canteen to find Zachary already there. After exchanging greetings they followed him to his car. The white Toyota Camry was parked on the side road which split the campus in half. East Campus focused on all the sciences, from Physics and Chemistry through Biology, Medicine and Pharmaceutical to Mathematical and Computer Science. West Campus had a completely different look and feel to it and focused on commerce and philosophy. The subjects ranged from Law, History and Archeology through Journalism and Languages to Philosophy and Social Science.

They got into the car, Miranda in the front seat and Andrea in the back. He drove them around for a while before ending up at the lake. It was mostly deserted that time of day. A few joggers and people walking their dogs the only other people there.
They sat in the car, listening to music and chatting. Andrea could see that Zachary tolerated her presence but wanted to spend time alone with Miranda. She also knew Miranda didn't want to be left alone with him. To compromise Andrea gave them her presence but not her attention. Instead she tuned them out and concentrated on her phone. She was an avid reader or, as some would say, a bookworm. She opened her e-reader and lost herself in the latest book she was reading. Two hours later he dropped them off back at the University so they would be in time for their lifts home.

Weeks passed in this way. Zachary would make arrangements with Miranda to meet twice or thrice a week and Andrea always joined them. They ended up at the Lake most if the time, only occaisionaly seeing a movie or the like. As October passed into November Andrea realised that the more time she spent with Zachary the more her attraction to him grew. Her ex boyfriend, Nathan, and she weren't really dating as such. She had fun hanging out and making out with him, he was totally hot, but her feelings for him had changed. She couldn't trust him any longer. No relationship could work without trust.

Fully into November, an incident occurred which made Andrea completely break it off with Nathan. She, Miranda and Zachary were once again parked off at the lake. Music played in the background as usual. A slow song came on that Zachary linked so he put the volume up then got out of the car. He went to the other side and opened Miranda's door.
"Dance with me," he asked extending his hand.
Miranda hesitated, not wanting to encourage him.
"I don't really want to dance," she denied. "Ask Drew."
Zachary looked at Andrea, a plea in his gaze. She understood.
"No really Miri," she tried to convince her. "It's just one dance. I'm comfortable here. Dance with him."
Eventually Miranda relented and took his proffered hand. He drew her out of the car and into his arms. They slowly swayed to the music.
It was a pivotal moment for Andrea. She suddenly felt lost and lonely. Looking at them dancing made her realise that she'd rather be in his arms. A thrill had shot through her when Miranda suggested she dance with him. It was quickly subdued by the plea in his eyes. She wasn't just attracted to him. She was falling for him.

Andrea was quiet, lost in her own thoughts, on the drive back to Campus. The girls said their goodbyes to Zachary and walked to where they would me their individual transports.
"You okay? You've been so quiet," the concern in Miranda's voice was evident.
"I'm fine," she said then hesitated. Miranda was her best friend after all. They'd told each other things they'd shared with no one else. "It's just," she bit her lower lip. "I think I'm falling for him."
"I know," Miranda smiled. "Why do you think I told him to dance with you instead?"
Andrea stopped walking and looked at Miranda in surprise. Miranda chuckled and pulled her along. "I know you, remember? I can see the way you look at him. Maybe I should start pointing him in your direction. A hint here and there." Miranda looked a little excited by the idea. Andrea put a hand on her arm to stop her.
"No!" She looked appalled. "Just no. He wants you not me. I don't want to be anyone's second choice. Promise me you won't say anything to him."
Miranda looked as though she was going to disagree so Andrea grasped her arm tighter.
"Promise me," she demanded.
Miranda debated with herself before nodding. "I won't say anything," she promised.
"Good," Andrea sighed with relief. She let go of Miranda's arm and they continued walking.

A/N. Like I said this is my first attempt. I know its starting off slow but it should gain momentum later on.

Also days kinda blur together for me so I can't say I'll upload a certain day of the week. I'll write when the mood strikes me and upload when the chapter is done.

Thanks and don't forget to vote and comment.
