Ok so this is my first story, it's only a short story 3 chapters long to be exact. I hope you like it and review!
She was lying in her bed sobbing when her best friend Hannah burst in. She pulled her out of her nice warm bed and shoved her in the shower and told her to get dressed into something nice. A couple of minutes later she walked out wearily but Hannah ordered her back in to brush her teeth because and I quote: “It smells like something’s died in there.” When she was decent Hannah blow dried her long blonde hair straight and put a little make-up on her, all whilst she protested heavily.
Mostly stuff about how her bed needed her and it would die without her and how she will never go out into society ever again. But she completely ignored her. She should have known really, when Hannah wants something she generally gets it. So that’s how she ended up being dragged out of her nice house and into the evening light and the sea breeze air.
“Hannah...” She moans as she drags her into the street.
“Nope not a chance, you have locked yourself in your room for over a week now Lacey and you need to get out.”
Lacey grips her cardigan round her shoulders tighter as an icy blast of wind sends her long blonde hair streaming out behind her.
“Couldn’t you have got me out of bed tomorrow morning, when it would have been warmer and lighter?”
She looks round at her and smirks evilly.
“Nope.”
She groans again and reluctantly lets her friend drag her across street after street until they reach the pier, and this is where Lacey firmly grounds to a halt.
“Not a chance, Hannah.”
She sighs and turns around to look straight into her blue eyes with her dark brown ones. Lacey studies her friend for a moment she’s wearing a long pretty turquoise top with jeggings , brown knee high leather boots and a matching brown leather jacket complete with a brown leather shoulder bag. Her dark almost black wavy brown hair curls perfectly, framing her impish face.
Whereas her on the other hand... She doesn’t even want to know what she looks like.
She snaps back to reality by the sound of Hannah’s voice. “You can’t hide away forever Lacey.”
“Err yes I can, it’s called catching a “fatal disease” and having to be home schooled for the remainder of my school years.”
She rolls her eyes at Lacey and grabs her hand again but Lacey resists again.
“Hannah you know why I can’t go back on that pier.”
Hannah looks at Lacey dumbly.
“...The incident?”
She sighs and walks over to Lacey placing her hands on her shoulders.
“Look Lacey my brother’s an idiot and...”
“I don’t want to talk about him!”
“It probably didn’t mean anything to him so don’t get worked up about it.”
Her words stab Lacey’s heart like a dagger. She didn’t know half the story. She blinks back tears.
“Look I don’t want my brother’s idiocy get in the way of our friendship.”
Lacey painfully swallows any and all emotion and looks up into her eyes.
“Okay?” She asks.
Lacey sighs and nods. “Okay.”
Her face breaks out into a huge smile. “Good because I want to go on the Ferris Wheel.”
Lacey groans again as she drags her through the Pier’s gates and down the pier.
“Hannah, you can’t be serious. Don’t you don’t think we are a bit old for Ferris wheels.”
She doesn’t reply and it gives her a moment to take in her surroundings. She looks around, the spinning teacups are creaking in the strong ocean wind, the coconut shy is lacking quite a few coconuts and the whole pier is still and lifeless.
“Wait Hannah! This place is empty! Hannah what’s going on?!” She exclaims.
“Shhhhh! Stop asking questions!”
“Hannah!” She shouts.
“Look we are here!” Hannah says as they stop suddenly.
Lacey stands there with Hannah looking up at this huge Ferris wheel that's going round at snail’s pace. There is no one on it but it’s the only thing in the fairground that looks alive. It’s getting darker and colder by the minute. Lacey curses herself internally wishing she had worn something warmer than her woollen cardigan.
Hannah approaches a very sullen guy and gives him some money. “I’ll be on the one behind you.”
“Wait why aren’t we getting on together?” Hannah looks a bit guilty for a moment then pushes her onto the seat. At the same time someone else is pushed onto the seat next to her. She turns around to see the unfortunate person she got stuck with on this ride with and her heart leaps out of her chest.
What the hell is he doing here!
His bright green eyes seem frozen on hers and for a moment she can’t look away.
She gulps and they both look away from each other simultaneously.
She exhales heavily a breath she didn’t realise she was holding and resists the urge to turn around and shout at Hannah, this ride doesn’t last too long, she’ll shout at her when she’s back on solid ground. She only just has time to process this thought when they both feel the ride come to a halt.
Leaving them both right at the top of the ride.
Great this is going to be fun...
