As Maxie, Tabitha, and I climbed to the top of Mt. Chimney, I carefully climbed up, since I was wearing high heels.

I felt the heat of the volcano from where we were standing, and combined with the already-hot sensation of my sweater-dress, I could have just about passed out onto Maxie.

As I walked up, I started to remember memories of my past, memories that I had tried so hard to forget....

It all started when I was seven years old. I was a bright and intelligent girl growing up in Fallarbor Town. Naturally, when my parents said we were going on a cruise that summer, I was excited.

Little did I know what happened next.

After 2 days of smooth sailing, the ship got caught up in a storm. It was rough and unforgiving- the kind of storm that snaps trees in half and turns orderly towns into piles of rubble. Soon, the ship started to sink. In the frigid waters, I lost sight of my parents, and I decided I should try to keep myself alive. I struggled to keep my head above water, but then I found a piece of wood and held on for dear life. My parents, however, were not so lucky.

Seven days later, their dead bodies washed up on the shore.

I have loathed the ocean ever since.

Tabitha tapped on my shoulder. "Courtney, whatcha thinking about?" he asked. "I don't want to talk about it." I replied. The less I talked about my tragic past, the better.

Images kept flying past in my head, memories I could never forget....

"COURTNEY! Swim over to me!"

"Mama!"

"COURTNEY! COME OVER HERE!"

"YOU'RE DRIFTING AWAY FROM US!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"

"COURTNEY....."

And that was the last I ever heard from my parents.

Maxie soon informed Tabitha and I that his business here had been conducted and we were going to head back to our base.

As I rode on the Camerupt, my head rested on Tabitha's shoulder, I thought one thing:

Will I ever be able to look past my tragic past and move on?
