After the match, I went straight to my house. I sat on the couch, and only after watching TV for a few hours I realized I was supposed to call Kelly and Amy right after the game.

Great, you were so busy thinking about Fernando Torres that you forgot to call your best friends.”

I quickly called Kelly.

“Sammie! We were so worried, why didn’t you call?” Kelly blurted.

“I’m so sorry, girls… I totally forgot. I’m so sorry.”

“Anyways… the goal Torres scored was amazing, wasn’t it?”

“Yes… yes, it was really cool.”

“What’s going on? I know you, Sammie, I know something is going on.” Kelly knew everything about me, and I knew I could tell her whatever. However, for reasons I couldn’t explain, I wasn’t ready to tell her about the previous events.

“You know… it’s the same old stuff with Danielle.” That was the most believable excise I could come up with.

“You girls are always fighting. I don’t think I have seen you two getting along well. But you could work on it.”

“I don’t know… I’m not really in the mood to talk about her.”

“Okay… Well, I have to go. Love you!”

“Love you too, Kelly!”

After I hung up, I heard the front door opening and my mother’s steps walking in the house.

“Hi mom. Where is dad and Danielle?”

“Your father had to go to a meeting and your sister stayed on the shopping centre.” I raised an eyebrow and she shrugged. “You know your sister is addicted to shopping. It’s just who she is.”

“I know mom. We’re very different.” I also loved fashion, but I wasn’t the type of girl who would spend her whole money on clothing. “I guess that’s why we are always fighting.”

“You two will only get along when you understand how to respect how each other think. Try to do that.”

“I’ll try, mom.”

After half an hour my sister arrived home carrying a load of shopping bags.

“Hello, Danielle.”

“Hello, Samantha. How was your little game?”

I almost said something harsh, but before I opened my mouth I thought about my mom’s words.

“It was great, we won.”

I had arrived home after the match and was lying on my bed, when my phone went off. I had a call from my ex-wife. We had split up six months before, and she was living in Spain with my two children. My babies were the two people I loved the most in the entire world, and I missed them a lot.

“Hello, is everything okay?” I asked, worriedly.

“Yes, yes. It’s just Nora. She couldn’t sleep. She really misses you. I will put her on the phone so you can talk, okay?”

“Yes, of course. How are you?” I asked. I still cared a lot about her. She was a good friend and the mother of my children. I couldn’t just ignore everything he lived through together.

“I’m fine, I guess. I’m building a new life here. And how are you?”

“I’m fine too… I miss Nora and Leo a lot.”
