"Indigo! Wake up! You have a meeting with the Alpha and Beta of the Blood Moon pack in thirty minutes!" I heard my Beta Cori yell to me from outside my door.
"I will be down in a minute." I retorted getting up from the cloudlike mattress.
I padded into the cold, silent bathroom and looked at my reflection. My hair had grown three inches in the last five months, and my face had gotten slimmer. My body was no longer childlike, and my height had increased. I looked to the necklace hanging delicately around my neck. It was a silver heart-shaped pendant my father had gotten me for my birthday three years ago.
The tears cascaded down my cheeks like sad waterfalls of emotion. I missed him so much. He taught me everything I know. I wiped them away furiously. I was a Luna dammit. I needed to get my shit together.
I opened the translucent shower door and turned on the tap. Without hesitation I got into the stream of perfectly heated water. I watched as it ran down every inch of my body, going between the crevices of skin that were folded. I washed my hair and body slowly, careful not to be too harsh on the new tattoo I had gotten above my heart. Love always, Dad. It was the ending to the last letter I received from him.
I turned off the faucet and got out of the shower. I wrapped the large, soft, white towel around my tiny frame and walked to my closet. I took out my favorite black jeans, my white V-neck t-shirt, and leather jacket. I slowly put on the items. I French-braided my long brown hair and put on my boots and by then I heard soft conversation by the front door. I walked out of my room and descended the stairs.
As I got to the bottom I was greeted by the smell of vanilla and coconut. I looked into the eyes of the owner of that heavenly scent and my wolf was suddenly going insane. She was never like this which led me to believe one thing. This tall, lean man with hair as black as raven feathers was my mate. His piercing blue eyes bore into mine, searching, as if trying to find out everything about me. His lips were a pale pink, voluptuous and perfectly proportioned. Why had the Moon Goddess blessed me so?
"Hello Miss. It is nice to make your acquaintance. My name is Lakota, Beta of the Blood Moon pack. I hope you do no mind me saying this but, you are the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on and I am absolutely thrilled to be your mate."
His voice was deep. Sexy. I was quivering in my panties before he even got to "My name is...".
"Hello. I am Indigo, Luna of the Silver Moon pack. I must say that you are the most perfect human I think I have seen in my twenty years on this earth." I turned to look at the Alpha. "Sorry to be rude. It is so nice to have you visiting Alpha Tanner. The pack has been so excited to finally meet our biggest ally in this war. Please, sit down. I just need a minute with Lakota here."
I took the sexually frustrated Beta upstairs to my room and slammed the door. I jumped into his arms and crashed my lips to his. I did not expect his lips to be as soft as they looked but I was wrong. We melted into each other. We felt each other's energy. I knew we had to stop though. Mating was meant to be a private matter when you were alone with your mate.
"Lakota. Stop. We cannot do this right now. We have to wait." I said as I reluctantly pushed him away from me. The sudden temperature change felt foreign already.
"You are right. We have much to do. We will finish this later. I promise you." He said winking to me.
I blushed as he took my hand and exited the bathroom. We made our way back downstairs. As we reached the conference room, all eyes were on us. Codi had the biggest smile on her face and she was giving me the 'I taught you well' look. I am guessing she sensed the sexual tension between us and heard what went on upstairs.
"Sorry guys. We had to discuss something." I said giving them the best innocent smile I could manage. "Now, no more waiting let us get to business."

After we made the final changes to the war plan, it was well past lunchtime. My stomach was eating my backbone and it would not shut up. I walked down to the kitchen to see the pack cook prepping for dinner.
"Hey Sheila, do you have anything left from lunch that I could eat? I am starving!" I said wrapping my arm around her frail body.
Sheila has been around for as long as I can remember. She would sneak me food as a child well after bedtime. She still does that for me at the ungodly hours I find myself awake. She is the grandmother I never had.
"Oh child you know I do. I knew that meeting would take forever and a day. You are so indecisive. You probably made them change the plans hundreds of times. You are much like your father. He too strived for perfection on everything." She said as she brought me back a plate with the most delicious smell coming from it.
"Dad never could decide on anything." I said taking a bite of the meat. "Holy shit Sheila! What is this perfect creation I just put into my mouth?"
She laughed and shook her head. "It is my secret recipe for hamburger steak. I knew you would love it. I tried to save you the most I could. You are growing Luna. You have not reached your full size yet. Your appetite will be harder to fulfill. At least your dad's was."
I smiled. "I can imagine. He probably ate everything in sight. Do you know when mom is coming back from Mrs. James'?" I asked taking another bite of the heavenly meat.
"I do not sweetie, maybe in an hour or so?" She said.
"Oh okay. Thank you for the food. I will definitely see you for dinner." I said handing her my plate and kissing her cheek. "I am off to see my mate."
"YOUR WHAT?!" she yelled at me.
"Nothing! Love you Sheila." I said running away.
