Harry's POV

Callidora had been avoiding me for almost two weeks now. The whole time we hadn't spoken or even been in the same room for more than a couple seconds. To be honest, it was tearing me up inside. I knew that I loved her, but she refused to believe it. If only she could remember her pasts, then she would know that my love for her was real and not of some curse placed on vampires a millennia ago.

To try and prove my feelings were indeed real, I'd come up with a plan. Now I can only hope that it works as I have intended.

Callie's POV

It was merely noon and I had yet to change out of my pyjamas. I made my way up to my room to change into some regular every-day clothes. I'd gone shopping with Dacey over the weekend... Well, more like stealing.

For whatever reason, Dacey could go out in the daylight with no problem. Me, on the other hand, couldn't without my skin burning from the rays of the bright sun. So, we waited, went out at nightfall, and snuck into the shops just taking things of our fancy.

I chose a grey v-neck t-shirt, short jean shorts, and white flip-flops. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I decided to straighten my dark hair; jet black to be specific. After outlining my eyes with black eyeliner, making my blue eyes pop, and adding mascara, I walked back into the main part of my room.

The first thing I noticed was white rose petals on the floor trailing from my bed to the door. A crème coloured, folded piece of paper caught my eye next.

As I picked up the piece of folded card-stock and opened it, my heart skipped a beat. Although I'd been ignoring Harry, I had missed him. Despite my mind saying to pay no attention to it, my heart yearned for me to read it's contents.

Beautiful cursive handwriting filled the space of the small paper.

'Callie,

Even though you may be upset with me, I hope you'll give me another chance to prove to you that I care because I want to, not because of an old curse. If you are willing to do so, follow the rose petals to find me.

~Harry'

I took a deep breath, contemplating my thoughts on what to do. After a couple minutes of hard thinking I decided what the hell; why not?

Following the trail of petals, they tool me through the hallway, down the staircase and out to the backyard patio. Luckily it was cloudy outside today, but I'd put on a hoodie and sweatpants overtop of my clothes just in case. There was another note on the glass table at the end of the patio where the trail of rose petals ended.

'I hope you're good with directions, because I ran out of roses. Go straight into the woods until you find the big oak tree. Turn right at the tree and keep heading in that direction until you see a navy blue tent.'

Once I reached the tent the area was completely barren.

"Harry?" I asked.

He wouldn't have just left me alone... Would he? Just as the thoughts went through my mind, strong arms wrapped round my petite waist. As much as I wanted to melt into him, I had to stay strong; I didn't want to end up heartbroken.

"What do you want, Harry?" I asked after freeing myself from his grip.

He looked sad, almost vulnerable. "I want you... And I want you to know that this is real, not just some stupid curse."

He reached out for my hand but I pulled it back. "I don't want this if it's fake. I don't need this if it's just going to leave me broken."

"Then let me show you that it's not fake, let me prove to you that I would never hurt you."

"How?"

Harry stuffed his hand in his pocket and pulled out a small red box. He opened it, staring at what the box contained before turning it to me. Inside the box was an old-fashioned amethyst oval ring. It was so beautiful, but what did it have to do with him having true feelings toward me?

"This ring was your first ever daylight ring. I kept it because I knew you'd come back to me somehow and I wanted you to have something sentimental, even if you can't remember."

"Lilura made it for me... In 345 b.c...."

"How did you-"

"I remember... I don't know how or why, but I do."

Harry walked over to me and lifted my hand, "May I?"

I nodded and he put the it on my right hand ring finger. I examined the ring on my hand, still in shock of its magnificence.

"Does this mean I can take off these sweats?"

"If you want to."

"Thank God!"

I pulled the sweatpants down to my ankles and stepped out of them, leaving me in my shorts. Next I pulled the hoodie over my head, but had some difficulties with it sticking to my shirt. After I got it off, I pulled my shirt back down and Harry wiggled his eyebrows at me. I threw the sweatshirt at him and he caught it.

"Don't worry, love, I've seen it all."

"You're nasty."

We both laughed and he came closer to me, taking my hand in his. As we gazed into each others eyes, Harry brought my hand to the more left side of the centre of his chest. My hand could feel the thumping of his heart against his chest as I kept eye contact.

"I thought vampire hearts didn't beat?"

"They do, and mine's beating faster than usual because you're here with me."

"Harry..."

He intwined our fingers, but not before kissing the top of my hand. As he leaned in, I started to close my eyes when a yelling interrupted everything.

"Eliodoro is back, the wedding's tomorrow," yelled Dacey.

Just when I thought things might get better, the devil himself shows up demanding my hand in marriage. Harry frowned at me. I wanted to cry, but I refuse to waste tears on that horrid man. He deserves death.
