She blinked her eyes open, the chilling sight of her icy blue eyes became visible. Her teeth chattered as the freezing weather took a toll upon her poor decision of pajamas. A worn T-Shirt and shorts, with the additional socks for warmth.
She bitterly tugged at the aqua sheets, longing for warmth again. She dared not lay a finger on the thermostat, that hung on a wall in the living- only because her mother always whined about the electricity bills being too high. She didn't want to hear it.
The sheets hooked onto the end of her bed, obviously caught on a stray piece of metal from her bed. Having enough with the never ending tug-a-war, she climbed out of bed and pulled the sheets off the piece of metal.
Her thumb had a burning sensation. She was in a state of confusion to see blood from barely touching the metal shard. She quickly walked over to the bathroom, not wanting to cause a scene.
She pulled tissues out of the box, pressing them against the wound. She pushed, but to her surprise, no blood was on her thumb nor the tissue. Surely she didn't image it, it wasn't a dream. She wasn't sleep walking.
Confused, but tired she walked to her bed, collapsing in, having only a couple hours of sleep. She held her thumb up to her face, wondering. Only a thin line remained, much like scar tissue.
Wondering if the shard caused that scar, she sat up and looked over the edge of her bed carefully, but she didn't catch glance of the metal. She leaned back, wondering if that was just all a crazy dream.
Buying that as a way out, she fell asleep a couple minutes after...

Moments later, a beeping frenzy filled her room. Awaking with a natural groaning sound, she hit rest on the alarm clock. Opening her eyes, she looked at the time. 8:45 it read. She let her head fall back on the pillow, thinking, or more like daydreaming, of the perfect life.
She got what they say, a rude awakening from her daydreaming as the beeping took off again. Turning the alarm off this time, she sat up, peering around at her room.
At once, everything blurred through her mind of last night. The shard, blood, cut, scar, and mainly, confusion. She gasped, quickly jumping to the end of the bed, looking over carefully, only a teddy bear sat there.
It seemed to be watching her with one cracked black button eye. The other eye missing and his left arm gone. The stitching was worn and started to loosen, causing the bear to lose pieces of it's once perfect body.
"Casey! Breakfast is ready!" The usual call any kid would hear from a mother that loved to cook. She already knew what the breakfast was- pancakes, sausage links and scrambled eggs- the usual.
She walked downstairs, seeming a bit shaken, but was not at all.
"Mom?" Casey replied. She looked in the kitchen. Her mom cooking at the stove, and a plate with everything predicted upon it.
"Yes, Casey?" Her mom muttered back as she meekly tended her burned index finger. Ignoring her mom's injury, she sat at the table where her 18 year old brother was wolfing down the breakfast like there was no tomorrow.
"Did you clean up any metal shards last night?" She was examining her scarred finger, having now a couple more scars be revealed.
"No. Why would there be any metal shards?" Her mom asked cautiously, but worried.
"Nothing. I thought I saw one." She was lifting her thumb, as she did so, an orange rose up. Casey didn't notice, and her brother was grieving over his stomach ache. Her mom was cooking, and had her back towards the table.
The orange lifted in the air, unnoticed by everyone, until Casey let her thumb fall, as went down the orange.
She jumped knocking over her orange juice, staring at the orange.
"What's wrong?" Her mom asked quickly.
"N-nothing." She stuttered, rubbing her throbbing thumb. She finally rolled out of her faze five minutes after, grabbing napkins to clean the mess.
Concluding her breakfast, she ran to her room, slamming the door shut. She tore her room apart looking for the shard, only finding lint and dust bunnies.
She growled, not realizing her thumb caused the orange to rise, she didn't pay much attention to it.
"What happened back there?!" She practically yelled at herself. She looked at the mirror in her room, wondering.
"What happened?" She questioned, her tone mocking herself.
