Chapter 1

"Miss Vinton, what a pleasure," Professor Dumbledore greeted Suri. She stepped inside his magnificent office yet again.

She had been here many times for plenty of different reasons, but she had still not managed to get over the intricacy of it all - the smallest of details in the walls, the paintings, the masses of objects that he must've collected over a number of years... It was fascinating, to say the least.

"Indeed," she agreed, shifting uncomfortably in his gaze. Suri focused her eyes on anywhere but him, the floor being her favourite choice.

"I cannot keep supervising you throughout your escape from these withdrawal-like symptoms," he informed the girl, "You're a bright witch, Miss Vinton."

"Where is this heading?" she asked nervously, scratching her arm under her sleeve. Dumbledore flicked his wand and her hand shot back to her side.

"You're heading into depression, Miss Vinton. I have decided to have a fellow student supervise you."

Suri lifted her head slowly to meet Dumbledore's eyes. His stare was strong, serious and sincere.

"Who might that be?" she whispered inquisitively.

"Remus Lupin? I assume you know him. He's in your house," Dumbledore stated, before standing up, "You will be in good care."

Suri's mind flickered as if a thousand thoughts were entering at once.

The first was James Potter, the boy who constantly poked fun at her for being so quiet. The second was of Remus himself, who was considerably kinder than his friend James, but he followed by his side despite his malicious actions.

After that was a mix of emotions.

"I understand it is a lot to process," Dumbledore said, "Off you go."

She left his office and sighed immediately.

"Does my company discomfort you that much?"

Suri recognised his voice instantly, "You don't have to pity me, you know. I don't need a bodyguard."

"From what I've heard, you do," Remus replied, stepping beside the brunette and heading towards the Gryffindor common room.

She followed, not wanting to upset the person that she would officially be spending a lot of her time with.

"Well, there's plenty of time before we should be getting to sleep," Remus suggested, "How about we study a bit?"

"Remus, I don't do friends."

"I-... We don't have to be, I mean... I was just trying to be friendly," he sighed.

Suri just walked off, heading to her dorm. He went to scale the staircase after her, getting shot back down. He obviously forgot the charm that sent boys spiralling back down so that they wouldn't perv or pester the girls.

"I'm worried! You're vexing me," he yelled out after Suri, but she didn't pay any attention.
