One year later

The bus shook you back and forth slightly as it drove down the narrow, snow covered road. After a year, all of your friends were getting back together at the lodge... All of them except Hannah and Beth. Mike didn't keep his promise that he made the night Hannah and Beth disappeared. They never found them. Crushed at the loss of two of your closest friends, you shut down. You hardly talked to anyone, not even Mike or Sam. You grew apart from the group - except for two people. Chris & Josh.

Right after that night, Chris increased the rate of how many times a day he would call or text you. He wanted to make sure you were okay after what had happened. It went from maybe once a week, you guys would talk, to numerous times a day. You guys became increasingly close. However, around Valentine's Day, Chris told you that he liked you. Unsure at the time if you wanted to actually get into a relationship, you declined, distancing yourself from him. You felt guilty about doing that to Chris, but you didn't want to get close to anyone and get hurt again.

Then, there was Josh. He was your crutch after the whole Chris thing went down. With Josh and Chris being best friends, it was easy for you to turn to Josh for support. You two talked non-stop. While mike was disapproving, you continued the relationship anyways. You thought that maybe this weekend, Josh would ask you to be his official girlfriend. You thought you were ready for an actual relationship, finally.

You turned your head towards Sam, who was listening to the only radio station available out in the middle of Blackwood Pines. She had her headphones up a little too loud, so you could hear what was being broadcasted. It was about the anniversary of Hannah and Beth's disappearance. Sam then put on a video with Josh on the thumbnail.

"(y/n), come watch this with me," Sam said with a warm smile. She patted her seat and you slid over, sitting next to her as she pressed play on the video.

"Hello friends and fans!" Josh beamed.

"No, let's try that again." He said, zooming in on the camera and adjusting it.
Josh went on to discuss how much it meant to him that the gang was back again. He also talked about how much it would mean to is sisters. He ended with, "now, let's party like we're fucking porn stars!" The closing line made you smile widely. You missed Josh, a lot.

After the video ended, she put her phone away and looked at you. She looked at your forehead where a small scar resided above your right eye, near your temple. It was from when you fell that night. She hummed softly, "The scar seems to be fading."

You shook your head and fixed your fringe so it covered it up. You hated that scar. It was a constant reminder of your sheer stupidity to go out into the blizzard that night. Sam half heartedly laughed at your actions and stood as the bus came to a stop. You stood and grabbed your stuff, walking off the bus with her. You opened the small gate that lead to the trail and waited for Sam, who stopped to feed a squirrel.
You smiled at Sam as she looked at you apologetically and rushed up to you. Both of you walked down the trail, just taking in the scenery. While it was weird to be back in a place that brought you such horrible memories, it also brought you a sense of peace. This lodge was like your home away from home. You used to come up here all of the time to hang out with Hannah and Beth. Okay, and maybe Josh, just a little.

As you two approached the gate, you saw a note. Sam went ahead and read it aloud, "Gate's busted. Climb over! Chris."

You giggled and looked at Sam, "welcome home!" You proceeded to walk to the wall beside the gate. "Gimme a boost..." You said to Sam. She placed her arms around your legs and lifted you up enough so that you could grab onto the top of the wall. You pulled yourself up and then offered your hand to Sam. She shook her head at your offer, "I got it!"

Sure enough, Sam climbed up without a problem. She jumped down before you did and helped you down. It seemed to you that you were getting a lot more help with things lately. Everyone wanted to protect you. Maybe it was because you had quite the breakdown after what occurred. Everyone just wanted to make sure you were okay.

You two walked down the path, you occasionally having to stop and wait for Sam who was feeding a squirrel. It was honestly so cute, so you didn't mind. When you reached the cable car station, you saw a bookbag sitting on a bench outside the station. You immediately recognized it as Chris'. A wave of anxiety washed over you. What was he going to say when he saw you?

Is he going to be mad at me? You thought.

Sam, hearing your heavy and erratic breathing, gently put her hand on your shoulder, "Hey, it's going to be okay. Go inside the station for a bit or look at that map and enjoy the scenery. I'll come and get you once the car arrives."

Sam always seemed to know what to say when you were having a crisis. You hugged her tightly and walked to the map. Looking past the map and to the mountain, you relaxed. You quickly rummaged through your bag and pulled out your camera, snapping a picture of the scenery. Photography was one of your secret hobbies that you only shared with a few people. Josh didn't even know that you were into photography. Only Sam and Ashley knew about your hobby. Beth shared an interest in photography, but you two can't delve into the world of photography anymore. You decided that taking pictures in Beth's honor was how you wanted to spend your time.

"(Y/N)!" You heard Sam call after you'd calmed down.

You turned to look at her, "yeah?"

She motioned for you to come to her. Letting out a loud groan, you walked to her.

"Whaaaaat? I was busy." You say, crossing your arms, your camera still in hand.

"Oh, my god! This place hasn't changed a bit!" Chris said, appearing in the doorway to the station. Immediately, you went back into your shell. Chris turned and looked at you. He walked to you and snatched the camera from your hands, looking through the pictures. You obviously protested, knowing that you had taken pictures of Chris, when you two were really close, that you may or may not have deleted.

After a bit of begging, Chris gave you your camera back. He smiled at you and said, "did you know there's a shooting range over behind the station?"

You looked at him quizzically, "a shooting range?"

He nodded enthusiastically. Sam spoke, "yeah! He just took me to it! Didn't you hear the gunshots?"

Oh. He took Sam... And didn't invite me... You thought. "No, I was engulfed in the exquisite beauty of nature."

Chris chuckled, "wow... That's deep."

You smiled and nodded as the cable car came into view. Walking to it, you guys got in and say down.

"Ooh, this is like prom!" Chris said and you giggled. You genuinely giggled. It was something that you hadn't done in awhile, and it felt awesome.
