"Ada, Ada,Ada! Come on you're taking forever!" Hailey screamed from the top of the hill.
I always take forever...
I march up the hill. When I'm almost at the top I close my eyes, scared and frightened.
"So, um, what did you want to show me?"
She helps me to the top, "Look!" She nearly shouts in my ear.
One day I swear I'm going to be deaf because of her loud mouth...
Annoyed by her sudden outburst, I open my eyes.
"Oh. My. God. It's breathtaking."
The forest. That has been blocked off by an old wooden gate. Is now open.
As we both stand there in awe, I quickly grab my camera and take as many pictures as my camera could hold.
"You have to print those out for me." She said.
I nodded yes as a response.
Oh I will...
"Let's go, it's about to get dark soon"
I say as I slide down the hill, when all of a sudden Hailey hops on my back making us both fall to the ground.
Soon we start tickling each other.
"Tickle fight!" we shout in unison.
We lay in the grass. "Hai..ley, Hailey, HAILEY!"
I was barely able to speak because she kept tickling me.
"Time out?" she questioned me. There was a long silence until I finally spoke.
"Yeah...time out..." I was crying and out of breath from her tickles, but sooner or later I would have to tell her. I shook that idea off.
Let's just have the time of our lives before I go...yeah.
We get up and brush ourselves off.
There was an uncomfortable silence before Hailey spoke.
She spoke so softly I could barely hear her.
Something is wrong. What?
"I know. You're leaving. Leaving me. Everyone." She spoke louder.
I heard the anger and sadness in her voice.
It wasn't supposed to be like this...we were supposed to enjoy our time together before she knew.
An akward, heavy silence grew and before I knew it I said something I would soon regret.
