On a late Wednesday night, Riley Young sat in a practice room on the third floor with her clarinet. The next piece for the Beatles show was to be memorized by tomorrow, so she was panicked. She didn't start memorizing earlier and she had a paper to write immediately after she was done. Bottom line; Riley was stressed.

After about 10 minutes of playing, Riley heard the doors in the hall open and footsteps getting closer. She didn't think anything of it and began to play her clarinet again, when suddenly the door to the practice room she was in opened slightly. She didn't realize who it was, but noticed that the lights in the hall were turned off. Riley sat up from her chair cautiously.
"Calm down, Riley, it's me.."
She recognized the voice to be a fellow band member in her clarinet section. An upperclassmen named Joseph Campbell. She sighed out of relief, thankful it wasnt Gene Witherspoon, and sat down again on the bench.
"What are you doing here?" She asked looking indifferent. She wasn't mad at him; in fact the very opposite. She was glad to see him, but she was tired and not willing to engage in conversation. At the very least, boring conversation.
He stared in her eyes and it made her shift uncomfortably. What did he want?
Joseph, continually staring in her eyes, came into the room and closed the door behind him slowly not wanting to make much noise, which he found noise to be bothersome and unnecessary. He sat on the other side of the bench next to Riley
"I heard from the monitor downstairs that you were up here. Did you not get my messages? I've been trying to find you all night."
His voice was tight and direct, impatiently waiting for an answer.
Riley looked away from him and to her phone, glad to have a distraction away from his piercing gaze. She pretended to look curiously at her phone as she unlocked her screen to see 13 missed calls and 6 new messages.

"Hey"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm headed to the caf. Wanna join? I haven't seen you since yesterday.. *shy face emoji*"

The messages continued similar to the others.
"Oh.."
Riley said and blushed, feeling guilty for not answering him back sooner.
"I didn't realize you were trying to contact me. I've been pretty busy all day and I'm so tired. Plus my phone is on silent." She leaned forward and smiled, breathing out a slight giggle before making a bored face.
Joseph smirked at her and put his arms around her. He thought it was cute when she was like this.
Riley sighed and leaned into him as if he were a giant pillow and closed her eyes. They were never this close before, but Riley felt comfortable being with him like this. She felt warm and a bit nervous as her stomach fluttered.
She opened her eyes to find Joseph staring at her flushed and tired face. The feeling she had was strange to her when she gazed into his brilliant blue eyes. It was.. attractive? Riley gasped trying to pull away from his arms and coughed awkwardly.
"I should.. probably get back to practicing. I don't know my part yet for Blackbird."
Joseph looked half-lidded at her, holding her firmly around her waist. She swallowed as her eagerness to remove herself from him ceased and she stayed planted in his arms.
"Riley.." He whispered softly, leaning in close to her reddening face. She stared blankly at him until she felt his soft lips on hers. Lust soon filled her as she kissed him back. Joseph released the kiss and stroked his hand gently over Riley's cheek.
"You can practice tomorrow.." Joseph said seductively, stroking his hand on her thigh.
Riley, unknowing of how to verbally respond, nodded in acceptance. She was then immediately swept off the piano bench, held bridal style in Joseph's arms, off to enjoy a night full of passion.
