Kid stared at the new girl that stood
across the street, going over the mental
script he had made repeatedly. This had to be perfect.
Everything had to be absolutely perfect. He had never gotten so worked up
about something before. Well, there was
that one time where he forgot to fold the
corners of the toilet paper into a triangle,
but he didn't like to think about that. He
had to do this. Now. Before someone else
got to her first. He briskly walked towards (Y/N) (L/N),
before he could doubt himself any further.
The girl had been talking to her friends, bubbly
and smiling brightly. The other girls paused and turned to look at him, and (Y/N) quickly followed
their lead. "Oh, hey Kid-senpai!" What's up?" she asked happily. "Hello, (Y/N). I have something
to ask you. Pr-Privately." Kid replied, feeling a blush
coming on. He hardly ever blushed. He really DID feel nervous about this...
"Oh, uh- Sure! Why not!" she answered, and Kid briskly walked around the corner, (Y/N) close behind. Once he made sure no one was in earshot, he turned to face her. "(Y/N), there's.... there's something I've been meaning to ask you." Kid began. "Alright... ask away." (Y/N) said warily.Don't mess this up... don't mess this up... Keep calm.... Find your balance...
"(Y/N), forgive me for being blunt, but... for some reason I really... enjoy being around you. You aren't even symmetrical, and yet a single glimpse of you takes my breath away. You're personality makes up for it, as you are both positive yet cautious at the very same time. You know when to comfort and when to leave someone to their thoughts. It's the perfect balance. I believe this is what makes you special... I think you're, dare I say it, almost perfect." he said, waiting to see how she was taking this information. She seemed to almost take offense to those last few words, however, she was blushing now, and she looked confused. So far so good, he thought. He had to keep this up. He cleared his throat, and attempted to regain his composure. "What I'm trying to say is... I'm think that I like you, and was wondering if you, Miss (L/N), would be willing to go out with me tonight." he finished. He may have looked calm on the outside, but on the inside, it was utter chaos. The girl's eyes widened and she looked astonished. Kid's heart sank as the thoughts of doubt returned. What if she refused? What is she didn't just refuse, but said that she would never even consider going out with him, and completely rejected him?!? "B-but of course, if you don't want to come, that's perfectly fine! And... and who am I to decide what's perfect? I'm garbage! Asymmetrical garbage! Why would anyone ever want to go with me!" he cried, losing his calm demeanor. "K-Kid, calm down! You didn't even let me give you my answer!" (Y/N) said quickly, shaking his shoulders, not even caring if she threw off his symmetry even more than it already was. "I would love to come! Just let me know when, and I'll most definitely go with you!" she said, her eyes gleaming and her blush glowing bright pink. "Y-You will?" he stuttered. It felt as if a massive weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. He quickly lifted her hands off of his shoulders, brushed of his suit, and cleared his throat. "V-Very well then. I will come to your apartment at 8PM sharp. Dress appropriately. Good day, (Y/N)." he said bluntly, pivoted, and walked away. Before he could go, he heard her call out again. "Hey! Kid!" she called. He turned to look back at her. "I-I don't think you're garbage. I think you're perfect just the way you are. I-I like your stripes." she reassured. Kid knew for sure that he was blushing now. "Uh... thank you." Kid replied. (Y/N) smiled and walked past him, saying "See ya' at 8!" as she went by.
It was at that moment that Death the Kid knew that he had found the one for him.
