Maci's POV;
The smell of pancakes and bacon filled the air as I opened my eyes. The sun beamed in through the curtains and hit my face. I sat up in Elizabeth's bed and rubbed my eyes.
"Hey, sleepy head!" Elizabeth exclaimed. Her auburn hair fell to her waist as she let it out of the bun she'd had it in last night. Her eyes turned a lighter blue as the sun hit her face. I envied her so much.
Elizabeth Claire Rhea has been my best friend since Kindergarten. We've always done everything together, and I mean EVERYTHING. No one has been able to seperate us since the second week of Kindergarten. It's astounding how close we've become. I always turn to her for advice, and she turns to me.
"Morning. Are you cooking?" I squint as she moves out from in front of the window, letting it hit me straight in the eyes.
"Yeah! There are pancakes, eggs, bacon, biscuits, and waffles downstairs. I was coming to wake you up so you could have some." She flashes me a smile as she brushes out her hair.
I jump out of the bed and run downstairs. I grab all the pancakes and bacon there is and put them on a plate. Elizabeth rushes down, knowing I'm already eating them all. She laughs before putting some waffles and eggs on her plate.
"So, what's in store for today?" I ask, still shoving pancakes in my mouth.
"We're going shopping!" I groan as she rolls her eyes at me. "I can't believe you don't like shopping. Why are we friends again?" I shrug, getting a chuckle in return. "Anyway.. then tonight we're going to that new club on East Main."
"Club Crazy?" She nods. "Really? Do I have to go?"
"Yes, you have to go! Why don't you want to?"
"I don't know. It just feels like something bad is going to happen..." I trail off. She rolls her eyes again before putting our plates in the sink.
"Go get ready. We're leaving in thirty. Call your mom and tell her you're staying here again, too."
I call my mom and get dressed. When I get downstairs, Elizabeth is wearing her ripped skinny jeans and a Beatles shirt with her white Vans. Her hair is straightened; she has on very minimal makeup.
I, on the other hand, am wearing flared out jeans and my teal Vans with a Skrillex t-shirt on. I have no makeup on at all. My hair is wavy, and my jeans are frayed at the bottom. It may not sound like it, but I look totally opposite of her.
"You ready?" she asks. Her fingers type away on her iPhone before she looks at me. She slides it into her pocket before grabbing the money her dad left us off the counter.
"Yeah, let's go." I grab my iPhone off the table and follow after her. We climb into her Mustang and drive the forty-five minutes to the mall.
----
"Can we please go?" I whine. El has dragged me around this entire mall looking for a dress to wear tonight. She walks out of the dressing room, spinning around to let me see the full dress.
It's a tight black dress that hugs all the right places. It makes her breasts look desirable and her butt look twice as big. It flatters her curves and hugs the right ones.
"What do you think?" She beams at me, waiting on my answer.
"I like it. It looks incredibly good on you. Now can we go?"
"No! You have to try this one on."
"El, I don't have any money."
"I'll buy it! Just try it on!"
I do as she says and slip into the stall. I shrug out of my clothes and into the dress. It's a lavender color, almost like Elizabeth's. My dress has sparkles on it with black lace. I look into the mirror before stepping out to show Elizabeth.
"I love it! We're getting it! Go take it off! It's perfect!"
I sigh before going back in and taking the dress off. There is no way I'm going to leave this store without this dress. I shouldn't even try to talk her out of it.
----
I sit in the car beside Elizabeth, singing along to Taylor Swift's new song, "Red". When the chorus comes on, we both bellow along with it. Of course, Elizabeth's words are slurred since she had a few drinks too many. As always, she wouldn't let me drive us to her house. It doesn't really bother me because things like this happen a lot when we go out, using our fake I.D.s.
BUZZ! BUZZ!
El's phone vibrated and a message showed up on the screen. She glanced at it then back at the road. Thoughts of her being inattentive soon crossed my mind.
"Do you want me to get it?" I offered.
"No, I got it," she slurred. I sighed and leaned my head back on the seat. I heard her typing on her iPhone before hearing it set back into the cup holder. It vibrated again, this time multiple times.
"What?!" she slurred into the phone. I listened for a few minutes before letting my eyes shut and singing along with Ed Sheeran's song, "The A-Team". Soon I dozed off with music filling my ears.
Before I knew it, I was awoken by a loud crash. My eyes flew open as I flew forward. I turned to look at where Elizabeth was sitting in the drivers seat. She wasn't there. I saw bright lights right in front of me. I was thrown against the dash board then back into my seat, only to be flung onto the hood of the brand new Mustang.
I try to look around, but I find myself not being able to. A few seconds pass before everything starts to dim and turn black. My eyes begin to shut as I hear a lovely British accent say one sentence that I'll probably never forget.
"There are two girls."
