Cain

The crowd was huge tonight which didn't surprise me as I pulled my black 1967 Chevy Impala Caprice Sedan into the parking lot of Midnight. Turning off the engine, my legs refused to get out of the car as a sigh escaped my lips and I ran a hand through my hair. As much as I loved college it actually felt good to be home again but that wouldn't last long. The line to get into the club had almost wrapped around towards the back of the building. Checking my Rolex watch I noted the club was pumping and thriving, it was only about eleven which meant the madness was only starting to begin. Everyone glared at me as I cut around the velvet ropes and walked towards the bouncer.

“Cain, you’re right on time for once, he’s waiting for you up in the VIP room.” Jared called out with the same unnerving expression he always wore.

Shaking my head not only at Jared but at the grumbling impatient people in line who were shouting claims that they were here first and why did I get to go in when they had to wait in line. Oh if only those people knew who they were shouting at but the point is they didn’t and I don’t know if that was what bugged me most. I hated the club more than I hated the club people and that was saying a lot. My senses went to hell as the loud bass thumped off the walls of the club causing my teeth to chatter on first impact. People were everywhere, a majority of them grinding on the dance floor as sweat poured off their bodies making the club even hotter towards the center.

“Well, well, well look what the cat dragged in. I do believe the last time I saw you JC and you successful snuck cocaine out in your book bags trying to prove your worth to them. Now you are back from school. You know I always knew you would come crawling back to your brothers.” Glaring at Brock I gritted my teeth while attempting to take a deep breathes to calm my nerves.

“I was fourteen years old Brock let it go already, I mean was my brother’s punishment really that bad? I thought you liked being the bitch in relationships?” I couldn’t help the sneer on my face as Brock became furious and took a step towards me.

“Touch the kid and I will not hesitate to break your jaw…again.” My eyes slide over to the silk smooth voice that had spoken.

Derek was casually leaning against a restricted door that leads to the roof of the club as he stared at us. Well more specifically he was watching me it was dictated in his contracted that watching over the club, me, and finances was a must but I was top priority. Derek never ceased to amaze me; he always knew where I was even with all my years of experience trying to ditch him. This mountain of a man has been with me since I was fourteen he is my oldest brother’s right hand man.

“I should have known that you wouldn’t be far since, you’re Blake’s butt buddy.” Brock sneered back with a look of distaste.

Bawling my fists at my sides my anger began to escalate which is very out of the ordinary considering I hated conflicts and was the most level headed out of my brothers. Avoiding fights, conflicts, arguments, and confrontation were at the top of my to do list but to hear him spewing all that shit about Derek when he has been nothing but loyal really pushed my buttons I mean who the hell did Brock think he was.

“Enough! Brock go do something useful for once damn you are always slacking off I will be informing Blake of this. Now hurry before I let Derek break your jaw again.” Alec’s voice boomed out from the stair case as he shut the VIP door making his way down the stair case.

“Oh, this is far from over pretty boy mark my words your brothers can’t protect you forever.” Brock’s eyes narrowed in anger as he blew out his breathe and only talked low enough for me to hear but I was unconcerned.

“Cain, it’s been way too long baby brother. We’ve missed you around here it’s been too quiet.” Rolling my eyes I let Alec pull me into a hug and ruffle my hair in a playful manner.
