(Clarke's POV)
That Newt kid took me completely off guard. He showed up as unexpectedly as the fog, or even as unexpected as us from the Ark coming down to Earth. This mysterious boy leaves me with a ton of questions. Where did he come from? Are there other civilizations out there? How did he get here? How can I be sure to trust him? I can, however, feel like I can trust him. He is just as confused as all of us were first coming to Earth. Is he from Earth? He must be, right?
I push all of the questions aside, focusing more on this new acquaintance. He is dressed as if he was from the arc, with a beige leather jacket and black jeans. Cuts covered his face like the black, tribal makeup covering the grounder's faces. His eyes were as blue as the sea on a postcard or a painting.
We walked in silence for quite some time. I could tell the scenery fascinated him, his eyes focused on the tall, thin trees and the overgrown, green grass. Finally, after what seemed like forever, we reached Arkadia. Newt's blue eyes lit up like a blowtorch.
Almost speechless, Newt asks, "What the bloody hell is this place?"
Intrigued by his accent, I almost forget to answer. His voice is as soothing as a cup of hot chocolate on a cold, winter night. "We call this Arkadia." I exclaim.
"I see the sign," Newt states, "But what is that?!" He points to the Ark.
Well now I know he's definitely not from space. Trying to think how to explain this in my head in terms an Earthling would understand, I create a metaphor. I then explain how we got here and what happened.
Newt seemed so confused. Almost as confused as I was when my mother took me out of my cell in the Ark and told me we were going to Earth. But hey, at least he has a place to stay. I just want to wrap this up so I can see Lexa. It seems like forever since I've seen her. Being apart from her is like a bird without its wings.
I gesture to Newt to follow me into the camp. Cautiously, he follows. He looks so malnourished, as if he hasn't eaten in months. As he shuffles inch by inch into the camp, I can see a look of fear in his eyes. I wonder what he's been through to make him so scared. I wonder what his story is.
A crowd forms around Newt and I as we, very slowly, walk to the Ark. Newt looks around and studies everybody's face. His eyes stay glued to Raven building whatever crazy contraption she has created this time.
My mom runs up to me with a cautious expression. "Who is this, Clarke? I've never seen him before."
You can see Newt's expression change drastically. Where his smile once was is now a frown, with petrified eyes. You could see him shaking all over. The poor thing. He must have been through a lot.
"This is Newt." I start. I have no clue what to say so I let him introduce himself."My name is Newt and I'm from the scorch. I was sent here on a flat trans not knowing where I was going. I am lost and very far away from home and I need somewhere to stay. Is that okay?" His expression is now hopeful, but he seems more cautiously hopeful.
Abby and the rest of the residents of the ark look at each other in confusion, I hear the whispers growing louder. "What the hell is a flat trans?" "More importantly, where is the scorch?"
Abby then announces, "we will have a meeting tonight and discuss wether you can stay or not."The hope in newt's eyes fade away for just a moment. It seems liked from experience, he knows that that basically means "no."
