ONE MONTH BEFORE HALLOWEEN
ALLGOOD, ALABAMA
EXT. BEHIND THE BARN - AFTERNOON
A small town in Alabama on a 200 acre farm.
We look in the back yard and see the old rusty faded blue and red Ford Jubilee tractor sticking the hay with the hay sticker... The tractor running as hard as it can just to pick up a two thousand pound ROLL BALE.
When suddenly the tractor is up on its two back tires... The hay catches it before the tractor falls backwards.
A close up show's Rodger Bryan, early 50's, stressing out over the hay being too heavy. He leans forward trying to get it back on all four tires, it works and he is ecstatic...
His daughter Nicole and son Bo are standing to the right of the tractor laughing so hard, almost in tears, at their fathers struggle to move the hay.
The tractor just won't move, it flips on its two back tires and dies... it's just too heavy.
Rodger:
I just can't pick it up. Ol' Jube just can't do it, it's not strong enough.
Nicole:
You can do it dad... I've seen it happen before... Keep pushing but be careful please.
Bo:
Whoa dad that is awesome let me try... please it looks fun
Rodger:
No son you are not allowed I will be in so much trouble with your mother and it is very DANGEROUS... it could kill you son.
INT. THE OLD COUNTRY HOME - AFTERNOON
A medium shot shows Dorothy Bryan, late 40's, cooking a late lunch for her family to eat after working on the farm. She out the window and sees her beautiful family working hard to take care of their HORSE so he won't go hungry.
EXT. BEHIND THE BARN - AFTERNOON
Rodger finally gets the HAY STUCK and gets his son to open up the gate to get in while his daughter puts a lead rope around the HORSES neck so he don't escape.
Rodger drops the HAY in its space
Rodger:
Drop the HAY RING around it Bo.
Bo:
Okay if I can move it... it's stuck in the mud and has grass growing over it.
Rodger:
Use your muscles son, you can move that... I've seen you pick up three HAY BALES at once, you can do it... Stop being a sissy.
Bo eventually pushes the HAY RING around it and jumps on the side of the HAY STICKER and rides to get another ROLL BELL to take down to block some water that runs off the pond into the field and causes it to be all muddy.
Rodger:
Jump off so I can pick this BELL up and then you can ride on it over to the pond to drop it off.
Bo:
Okay dad that'll work.
Rodger picks up the other ROLL BELL and Bo jumps on to ride while Nicole holds the HORSE back. They take it to the pond and drop it on one of the other runoff spots. Then they head back to the gate... Bo jumps off the hay sticker.
Bo:
Hey Nicole, come on out so I can close the gate.
Nicole:
