Mary and Ed have been friends since pre-K. Ed fell for Mary on the very first day. There she was standing, in her mammas high heels. And Ed thought "Damn....so this is how love feels."
Ed loved Mary, he loved her a lot. He thought her laugh was to die for, and damn her freckles were HOT. She was his secret obsession, his very last thought before bed. But, unfortunately, sadly, Mary didn't love Ed.
He begged her, he bribed her, he got down on his knees. But Mary refused to give into his pleas. "For you," he said, "I'd walk to the earth's very ends!" But ever time she replied;"let's just be friends."
So the years went by, Ed and Mary stayed tight. And even years later, Mary still was Ed's light. He didn't give up, he wouldn't back down, even when Mary had dated most of the guys in town.
It was the night of their prom, "One more photo," Mary's mum said. And at that moment, Mary looked over at Ed.
His head thrown back laughing, his eyes so gentle and kind. "Gosh," thought Mary, "have I been blind??"And it suddenly hit her. She'd loved him all along! He was the dimples to her smile, the lyrics to her song! "I'm going to tell him!" She vowed in her head. And it was at that moment, Ed leaned over and said...
"I think I'm in love! For real this time! I've finally met my soulmate and golly she's fine!" Ed pointed to a girl, standing at the end of the hall. And as his eyes lit up, Mary's heart started to fall.
"Tell him!" Her heart shouted, "it isn't too late! You're his best friend, she's just some stupid, old date!" She wanted to tell him, but instead she said; "Wow, she's beautiful. Congratulations Ed."
