Louis stumbled over once again. He had no idea where he was or what was going on, he'd not known that since Harry had blindfolded him and guided him up some stairs, that had turned into more stairs, and more, and yet more, and still, over 15 minutes later, there were more stairs still.
"Harry for gods sake I'm going to break my ankle. Where are we going?" He said frustrated as he went over on his foot slipping down a step.
"Don't be so impatient." He chucked and Louis groaned. He wasn't really complaining though, he loved surprises, especially the ones Harry would do for him. They were always great.
After walking for another minute or so Louis felt cold air hit his face and he shivered slightly as the wind rushed through his hair. Where were they? Finally, Harry halted him, and to his relief, Louis felt him fumbling at the knot of his blindfold. Slowly, Harry pulled the blindfold down. It took Louis a moment to adjust his vision as the sky was extremely bright, but as soon as he realised where they were, his mouth dropped open.
They were standing right at the top of the Eiffel Tower, the whole or Paris spreading out into the distance beneath them, the people looked like ants. He turned to Harry, still in awe.
"Harry! How did you? Why? I don't-" He stuttered, looking out over the view again.
"I love you." He finished with and Harry smirked to himself. For a while they just stood there, staring out over the city, taking in the cool breeze and the amazing view.
"The Eiffel Tower. You soppy bastard." Louis joked, turning to Harry, but his grin faltered when he noticed his anxious, almost apprehensive facial expression.
"Hey? What's wrong?" Louis staid concerned but Harry just shook his head.
"Louis I-" He started but stopped. He just took a deep breath and with shaking hands, he took Louis'. He slowly lowered down so he was knelt on one knee in front of Louis and Louis' heart seemed to break out of his chest and jump over the edge of the railing.
"Oh my god no Harry you're not-" He said, clapping his free hand over his mouth and glancing away momentarily. This couldn't be real.
"Louis." Harry said looking up into his eyes. "I love you so much, and, it's been so long, this whole hiding fiasco, and I know people aren't going to like this, and I know it's going to cause so many complications, but I've been wanting to say this for so long and I just can't wait any longer."
He paused, letting go of Louis' hand and reaching into his pocket to bring out a small, blue, velvet box. Louis' breath hitched and his heart was racing.
"Louis, will you marry me?"
The world seemed to stop. Louis just stared down at the open box, the ring was beautiful, it was plain silver with a small heart etched into the top. He tried to speak, but at first no sound came out, he was too taken aback to even function. After what seemed like a lifetime, a wild grin spread out across Louis face.
"Yes, Harry! Of course I will you bloody idiot!" He said, a lump forming in his throat. Harry looked as if the weight of the world had just been lifted off his shoulders. He took the ring out of the box and slid it onto Louis finger, it fit perfectly. Louis stood just staring at it, it was beautiful, he couldn't seem to be able to speak. Harry slowly stood back up and looked down at Louis. A small tear ran down Louis' cheek and he looked up into Harry's face. Harry slid his arms around his waist and pulled him closer.
"I love you." Harry said softly before closing the gap between them with a warm, slow passionate kiss. It wasn't heated, it was full of emotion, tears still leaking from Louis eyes. As they pulled apart Harry placed a hand on Louis' cheek and wiped away the tears.
