The sounds of the soft crumbling waves and the distant sound of chirping seagulls were the only sounds here today. The soft white sand was warm from the shinning sun above that wrapped me in warmth and cleared the bright blue sky, not a single cloud was in sight. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn't realise how quickly the time had gone by. I needed to be home by 5.00pm to help with dinner and to Skype my friend and it was already 4.50pm. I quickly flung the beach towel in the air and shook it quickly to dust it off, then messily rolled it up and shoved it onto my bag. I threw on my thongs then scurried back to home.
I jogged quickly back along the wide gravel path that lead through the bush area. Tall thick trees were spread everywhere along with the abundance of colourful plants and bushes that covered the rest of the ground. Birds sung high up in the trees and butterflies fluttered gracefully around the bushes. I was starting to breath a little heavier as I approached a small hill, I looked at my watch, "4.55 pm". "Shit" I cursed out loud. The path ran with me over the hill and down near my house. I cut across the road then onto the hard white cemented footpath that ran along the street. I turned a corner and ran across the road and it's garden to my street. I reached my front lawn then stopped. Breathing quickly and heavily I began to take long deep breaths then quickly looked at my watch, "4.58 pm" is flashed in a bright golden yellow colour. "Sweet, I should be an Olympian" I joked to herself then walked inside.
I walked up the stair to the second floor then down the hall to my room. I chucked my bag on my bed then kicked my thongs off and headed down stairs to the kitchen. After that short run home, the dark oak wooden stairs felt cool against my feet as I walked down them. I turned right then walked through the short hallway that lead out to the rest of the bottom half of the house. The floors were cold as well, they were a clean white marble my parents had put in. I turned right then into the kitchen where my mum Amanda was stirring some veggies in the black steal pots. "Hi hun, how was the beach?" She asked facing me while wiping her hands on the towel that sat over her left shoulder. "It was good. Nice and quiet this time too" I replied as I made my way over the cutlery draw to set the table. "Thats good then. Okay, i'm going to need you to keep an eye on the veggies while I cool the steaks and don't worry about setting the table for Dad because he is going to be late home from work."
"Okay, what veggies are we having" I asked as I walked into the dinning room in the next room. The dinning room was pretty fancy in my eyes. It had a 10 seat wooden dinning table that was covered in a white soft cloth with tall candles and small table pieces that ran through the middle. The walls had smaller lights that shone a bright creamy white light up and down the walls with the main light, a small fake Crystal chandelier that hung above the table, sparkling light across the room. There were also old cabinets filled with plates, bowels, glasses and cutlery that had been passed down from generations that were only used on special occasions, or shelves that held photos of friends and family throughout the years. I placed the steak knives and forks next to the empty spot where a white plate will soon sit.
"How was your day, Mum?"
"It was alright, I met a funny old man today when he came in, he was pulling all sort of jokes and was such a charmer for the older ladies. I think he is a new patient because I haven't seen him before. How was your day, sweetie?"
"It was alright, I slept in then had breakfast. Got changed then rode over to Matts house. We played some games then he had to go to his Dads so I came back home and cleaned my room then went to the beach. What was the old mans name from today?"
"His name was Albert. It's good to hear that you're getting outside again, I bet your loving it too?" Mum said with a smile as she glanced over at me while cooking the steaks.
"Yes! I have been so cooped up in my room lately and haven't had a reason to go outside and I hated it, being inside all day, everyday, these holidays I am not spending one day stuck inside my room." I commanded then smiled.
"You should see how many friends live near you and then try and get them all to hang out"
"Yeah I'm trying but it's just that many of these have plans or don't want to ride all the way. It's alright, I'll figure out a way to make them do it though"
Mum laughed then told me to stir to veggies once more before draining them into the sink. Mum dished up the veggies and steak on the white plates then placed them on the table. I walked off to get my older brother from his room while Mum finished off placing the gravy boat, sources, salt and pepper on the table, lit the candles, then poured everyone a glass of cold, fresh rainwater that we collect ourselves. We all sat at the table and ate our dinner while talking about what we did that day and what was to come of tomorrow.
"Mum, can you pick me up from work at 2:30 pm tomorrow then drop me off at Tim's?" Asked my older brother Luke.
"Yeah, alright. I'll move my second break to then so I can do it around work"
"Cheers"
"How about you Rina? Are you going anywhere tomorrow and need to me to drop you off?"
"Nah I'm good thanks, I have my bike if I need to ride anywhere anyway"
"Okay cool"
After we all finished eating our dinner we washed off our plates, stacked the dirty dishes into the dishwasher and cleared the table then made our way to our rooms. I walked up the stairs then down the hall to my room and turned on the light. My room was wider than it was long and had tall windows that let in much of the outside light. My bed was over by the far left and had a yellow, blue and white stripped bed spread on it. I sat on the cushioned chest like storage box at the end of my bed then got changed and walked over to the right hand side of my room where my gaming desk, book shelves and wardrobe was. The upstairs bathroom has a door connecting to my room and I walked inside then took a shower.
The bathroom had light grey marble flooring with dark grey walls and a white basin, bath and shower. The shower was warm and fresh as it lathered me in a comfort I always loved. After about 7 minutes I rinsed the conditioner out of my hair then hopped out and wrapped myself in her creamy brown towel then walked walked back into my room. The windows allowed for me to see the sky and it was beautiful. The sun was setting and the sky was a beautiful mixture of purple, pink, blue and yellow. Like always I stared for a minute then walked over to my walk in robe by the right of my room. I threw on some trackies, a singlet and hoody. I placed my towels back into the bathroom and brushed my long wavy brown hair. After putting my clothes in the dirty clothes basket I lounged into my comfy, black and blue computer chair then opened up Skype and called my best friend, Skyler.
