“Hey! Watch where you’re going lady!” a voice from the crowd mumbled. I shuddered wondering who said it and listened but heard nothing, so I just kept moving. After all, I am a Guardian for a reason. Just seconds before I’d heard my brother, John, say that he didn’t know who I was. Why would he anyways, I mean I sometimes didn’t even recognize myself anymore.
Our parents’ deaths had changed me. My once silver eyes were now full of distrust and I’d been told so many times I’d lost track of the number that I ‘have the eyes of a stone statue.’ My hair, a black almost blue, like the midnight sky, and a length that went to my waist, was now cut to my ears and spiked. My skin though was, interestingly enough, still tan in color. Underneath my eyes you could see the weight of the world.
You’re probably thinking that I must be exaggerating that my parents’ death alone couldn’t have caused my appearance to be this way. Well you’d be right in saying that. I’m also a Guardian and no not the angel type, not even the bodyguard type; no I guarded all of the memories of Amelia Earhart after she turned 39. Sure there were still rumors, but none were believed. I guarded memories of her ranging from people seeing her back to people hearing full conversations.
My name is Hue Athena Zu, I’m fourteen years old (although I look like I’m twenty because of my experiences guarding Mel) and this is my story.
