Chapter One

Obviously, I didn’t always have Mel’s memories in my head. I’m only fourteen! That’s where my moonstone comes in. Not everyone can be a Guardian. There are qualifications:

1.       You must have been born with a moonstone, a pendant in which the color depends on your essence. (Your moonstone will hold the memories of your charge until you reach the age of fourteen and a half, when you will be able to access the memories and slowly ‘absorb’ them.)

2.       You must have the Po tattoo at birth, which shows that your mind is capable of handling being a Guardian.

3.       You must know the language of the Loj, the Guardians (This is instinctual for few and most must study hard to comprehend the language).

4.       You must pass through the Styx River with your memory intact, to show your control of the psyche.

5.       You must be able to lie without your emotions getting the best of you.

Five rules…so few have it all. I’m one of those few, as I said before. At this point in my life, I’ve met only one other…my twin brother…Aspect Minerva Zu. I Love Sirius, or As. John will remember As. He has to….

“John, I have no idea how you deal with us,” As said once again.

“I can’t even deal with him half the time,” I said mischief causing my silver eyes to twinkle, “Of course…all I need to do is remind him that-”

“I love you Lune,” As cut in, his eyes pleading with me.

“Sure, sure,” I said snickering knowingly. “You wanted to say that, just like I want to mention to John why I call you Sirius….”

“Why do you call each other Moon and Sun?” John asked, genuine curiosity dancing in his eyes.

“Well,” I said smirking. “As here just loves the stars.”

“That’s all Hue…” Aspect said quickly. “I mean, who doesn’t?”

I have the Po tattoo on my forehead…. It’s known as the Hamsa to the Norms…they show that we receive and guard memories. Everyone has a different color. Ironically enough, mine’s blue and Aspect’s is yellow, the traditional colors of the moon and the stars…. So we had the bright idea to make up nicknames based off of the colors.

But what we didn't realize was that Sirius has a twin star. So they're known as Sirius A and Sirius B. Aspect started to pretend that he was A and B. One day he would be a poor, artistic peasant and I his muse. Other times I would be the Queen while he would serve me.

It was just for fun, but once we went a little too far playing truth or dare. I, once again, was the Queen and I dared him to watch all the Batman movies with me. I know what you're thinking, that sounds easy...right? But at the same time we had to play the characters. He wanted to be Batman, while I was the Joker.

That didn't go over well when I said the Joker’s famous line, "Why so serious?" As went off the script and said, "Exactly." From that day forth he did everything, never stopping to rest. He didn't want to miss out on anything, 'no regrets.' Sirius however, stuck with him.... He used to run around yelling, "SIRIUS TO THE RESCUE!" He made the Joker a superhero, although at the time he wanted to be Batman.
