What was she doing?

Not going to find him. Turning the other way, leaving him to rot with his insanity.

It was so wrong. And she knew it.

Sam couldn't do that. She wasn't going to treat him like others did, as if he was purposefully insane. He wasn't, she knew him better than the rest. All he was? Sick. And he needed help.

She stood there, out within the snow, confused and at a loss. The others were getting help, but she wanted Josh.

Her Josh. The one she loved. Who tried to kill everyone.

None of it was intentional... And that's the way it'd stay in her mind. How could she be angry with him? Or hate him? She was more scared and worried if anything...

Sam hovered around the back edge of the house, grabbing a flashlight and a lighter before taking off toward the mines.

She'd find him. Alive and well. Talking to himself, begging for help. And she'd be there, she'd have him back.

But it wouldn't be the sober Josh, the sane one. It didn't matter, however. She had to save him before any Wendigo could touch him, which is why she had the shotgun tied to her back.

Her heart was pounding within her chest as she ran toward the rocky cliff that she had climbed up to get out of the mines in the first placs... And here she was again, the same old place.

With a trembling hand, she turned the flashlight on, afraid of calling out his name. She still wasn't entirely sure of what lurked below. There had to have been more Wendigos... Deeper down.

Sam composed herself before she heard the most terrified cry for help.

Josh.

"Leave me alone! I... I didn't want this! Didn't want ANY OF IT!" She heard him yell. No. Bad idea.

Sam began to jog, trying to step carefully over the wet stone, light waving around within her hand as she followed the echo of his voice. Closer.

"I DON'T TAKE ORDERS FROM YOU! You're... You're - NOT REAL!" Sam could hear the pain, the anguish... It destroyed her, consumed her as it took over her head and heart.

Don't get distracted. He needs you now, more than ever. Especially with the yelling. The Wendigo will find him, tear him apart if they get ahold of him...

That wouldn't be happening. Not to him, Sam wouldn't allow it. She panted when her steps became faster, as she was far more confident about her actions as she finally came upon the moonlit patch where Josh was curled up, hands over his ears, strangled sobs escaping his lips.

"Josh." Sam gasped, immediately crouching down, so she wouldn't seem so threatening to him. "Josh, it's me. It's Sam." She said softly.

Josh stopped rocking, uncurling from the fetal position that he had previously been in, gasping as he suddenly shuffled away toward the edges, face drawn up in fear. "No... No, you're not real. Sam... You're..." He began to shake violently.

"Josh, it's really me. We need to leave, Josh. Take my hand." She pleaded, tears welling within her eyes as she extended her hand toward him.

Josh shook his head before he began to smack himself, harah and demanding at that. "Not real... Not..." He trailed off and suddenly lurched forward when Sam said the words, 'take my hand'.
