I look into the mirror as I slowly pull my hair into a ponytail. My eyes are glistening with fresh tears. I have to leave today. I have to leave my life behind. Right as I am walking back to my room to get my bag, I hear a knock at the door.
I grab my bag and walk to the door, curious to see who it is. I open the door and I see a girl outside, maybe a year older than me.
"HI! I am Lily, your guide!" she says excitedly. "Are you Aria?"
"Umm..." "Yeah..." I reply, kind of startled by her outburst of energy.
"Are you ready to go?" Lily asks.
"Yeah... I guess" I say quietly, more tears coming to my eyes.
Lily leads me to the car parked outside, opens the door for me, and we get in. As soon as I am in the car I huddle in a corner and start going through my bag. Photos of me and my family, as well as photos of me and Maia are in a small box tightly packed in the corner of my bag. I also see a few trinkets from when I was younger such as a few friendship bracelets that Maia had made for me and a small charm that Lea had got for me when I was younger.
I look up to see Lily staring at me. She quietly moves over to sit next to me.
"Are you ok?" she asks.
"Yeah. I'm fine" I put everything back in my bag and zip it up.
"Sooo........"I begin nervously, "How is it being Twisted?" I ask her.
"You'll see" she says and then turns to look out the window.
We sit in silence for a while, looking out our windows. Eventually, the car comes to a stop.
"We're here!" Lily shouts, clearly exited.
I pick up my bag and get out of the car, drying the tears remaining on my face. After a few moments in silence, I realize there is no going back now, and get ready for my new life to begin.
