I sigh in relief. It's not McKenna. It's just a dead man.

Wait.

A dead man.

"Shit." I run over to his side and take his pulse, but I new he was long gone. I contacted HQ and before long, everything is normal, then again, it's not.

I shut the door of my lonely apartment slowly behind me. I press my back against the cool wood and slide down, laying my head on my knees.

Without wanting to, I begin to cry. I cry and cry and cry some more. I feel so alone. As more tears stream down my face I hear my phone vibrate. I glance over to see a breaking news alert.

I hop onto the couch and click ok the news.

"Breaking news. With the tragic kidnapping of highschool student McKenna Miller, there has been a lot of sighting of the Masquerade. But we have an update on the McKenna Miller story. A randsom video, addressed to the city has been released." Says the news lady. Then the screen, flips to McKenna.

She has a gun shot wound in her shoulder, a black eye, multiple bruses on her face, and she is shaking while holding a crumbled piece of paper.

"He-hello. M-my n-name is McKenna M-Milly a-and-" she is interuppted by a voice in the background. "Quit studdering you idiot!" Tears stream down her face as she squeaks out am apology.

"This is a message to the Masquade," she continues. "You know about the 2 week time limit but, it's been Sh-shortened. I have 4 days. You, have four days until, untill-" she stops as a gun is lifted to her head. A man in a black mask steps into view. McKenna quivers. He finishes her sentence.

"Until we pull the trigger."

And with that, she is gone.

Hey, sorry. I know it's been awhile but hey, it's an update!! Ohhh, so she has less time. How is she going to get almost 1m $ in 4 day?! What do you think she will do? Let me no in the comments!!
