-Gabrielle's POV-
''Gabrielle wake up and get dressed" My mother called from down stairs. I rolled out bed slowly.
"I'm up!" I said walking to my bedroom. I jump into the shower turning on the hot water. I quickly took my shower and got out. I wrapped the towel around my body. I unlocked the bathroom door and walked into my room.
"Ahhh!" I screamed and wrapped the towel tighter around my body as I stared at the man sitting on my bed.
"Who the fuck are you?" I asked grabbing the baseball bat that was in the corner of my room.
"Woah chill out." The man said getting of the bed putting his hands out in front of him.
"Who are you and why are you in my room?'' I asked stepping closer to him.
"I'm Theo , your parents have arranged you to marry me." He explained.
''Ma!" I yelled keeping the bat up not letting him get any closer to me. A few moments later my parents and 2 other people entered my room.
"Gabrielle what's wrong?'' My Mother asked me.
"Did you give him my hand in marriage?" I said leaning the bat into the wall.
"Uhmmm. Can you excuse us to speak to our daughter?" My father told the people as they filled out my room.I looked at them as I put a robe on over my towel trying to cover myself up more.
"Before you were born.... We signed a contract with them. It said that if we had another child we would arrange for you to be married in exchange we got 4 million dollars." My father explained.
"So you practically sold me." I said angrily.
"Our mafia was under attack, we needed the money, and we didn't think that we were going to have another child.'' My mother said with watery eyes.
"And one of the worst parts about it is you're giving me away on my birthday." I watched as shock washed over their faces. "So you FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY!! Oh this is the icing over the nonexistent birthday cake." I knew I was being over-dramatic, but I was so pissed off that I was just NOW finding out about it.
"We're sorry." My parents mumbled .
"Can you please leave so I can get dressed?" I asked as they left my room.I walked into my walk-in closet grabbing a pair of white sneakers, black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. I was extremely grateful that they couldn't see through my shirt or they would see my fluorescent green bra. I walked out of my room just to run into a hard chest.
"Sorry." we said simultaneously.I took this time to examine his face. He had dark brown hair that was nicely cut to frame his face. His hair complementing his grey eyes that seemed as if they used to hold emotion.
"You're going to live with Theo." He said with a thick Irish accent. Before I could respond he turned around and walked down the stairs with me following behind keeping a few steps between us.Once we reached the main floor it seemed as if Theo's eyes grew colder when he looked at one of the men in the dining room.
"Lucas where's the paperwork?" Theo asked the man I assumed was his brother by the way he resembled Theo. Lucas disappeared behind the cherry wood table to get the paperwork.
"Gabrielle?" my mother asked.
"Yes ma." I answered turning my head to look at her.
"I know how you feel." She said as she wrapped her arm around me as she guided me to a chair. I watched intently as she sat down across from me still wondering why she would say that.
I guess she noticed my confusion and started speaking. "When I was 17 years old my parents sold me to your father, so that my family could pay off their debt. But it wasn't all bad after about two or three months I started to fall in love with him. It turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me." she said grasping my hands tightly as her tear stained her cheeks.
I couldn't help the way my mother could make me stop being on edge about every thing. I looked away from my mother to see the paperwork being slid across the table towards me with the pen sitting on top.I read the papers only one thing standing out to me. It had two signatures at the line where it said husband.
"Why does it have two signatures on those two lines? Where am I supposed to sign?" I asked looking at Theo then looking at Lucas.
"It is because we're in the mafia. If I die the plan still goes through just my brother is my alternative. And you sign on the line at the bottom right of the page." Theo said simply as if this was every day conversation.
"The wedding is on May 23rd this year.Your parents and a close friend is allowed to come as guests." Lucas said. I quickly signed along the dotted line. I felt as if I was signing my life away.
"You can go pack your things now. We shall return around 8:00 tonight." Theo said dismissing me. I decided to bite my tongue instead of saying some thing back.
"Goodbye." I said going up the stairs. As I was walking up the stairs I couldn't help but think about the memories this house held, like when I was eight and my childhood friend pushed me down the stairs because I punched them in the nose. When I was 14 and went on my first date and I came home crying, because he tried to put his hand up my skirt and when I made him stop he called me a slag so I punched him in the nose. And when I was 16 and got my first taser and me and some other kids played taser tag and I accidentally punched them in the nose for scaring me. Let's just say everyone know I had a strong left-hook. And now on my 18th birthday I'm getting married in 3 months.
I had finally reached my room and grabbed a suitcase and started packing my clothes first. "I'm gonna be okay." I whispered to myself as I threw even more things into my suitcase.
