-Gabrielle POV-

I got out of the car and walked towards the freshly cut feild. "How did you find this place?" I asked Lucas.

"I was driving one day and I saw a man putting up a for sale sign and I bought it." he said.

"But who maintains it?" I asked still in awe of the whole field.

"Wheneve I have time I try to do some of it, but if I don't I'll hire someone to do it for me." he explained as he stood beside me.

"It's really peaceful out here." I said sitting down on the grass.

"That's why I like it out here. There aren't any other houses for miles. And I always wanted to build a big house for my future kids and wife. I know I'm Irish, but I want to have a family like I'm Italian. I want a lot of kids." he said smiling looking at the distance.

"That's a really nice dream." I said as I felt his gaze on the side of my face."Can you tell me what that tattoo means?" I asked tracing my hand on his forearm.

I watched as he took he deep breath before he began to talk.

"A few years back I knew a girl and she was pregnant, but when she went into labor they realised they could only save one of them and the girl made me make her a promise..that'd I'd take care of her child." he said stretching out on the grass.

"The tattoo is in memory of her and her child Myah. Myah had Lung Cancer. That's why there is a clock. I never knew when she would pass. The roses are because she had a birthmark that kind of looked like a rose behind her left ear." he said a smile grazing his face for a split second then it was gone.

"I bet you were the best father." I said.

-Lucas POV-

"Not the best, but you couldn't say I didn't try to be." I said. Gabrielle smiled at me.

"Do you think about her a lot?" she asked.

"Yeah." I said looking at the sky.

"It looks like it is about to rain."Gabrielle said.

Once the words left her mouth a rain drop hit my cheek.

"It is." I said said standing up then helping Gabrielle up. By the time we were both in the car it was just drizzling, but it was also thundering and lightning.

"It looks like we are going to have to crash at my friend's place." I said.

"The same guy who brought me my clothes?" she asked. I nodded as I took my phone out of the glove compartment. I started the car so it could warm up, and then called my friend. He picked up on the 4th ring.

"Hey Lucas." he answered out of breath.

"Hey, can we crash at your place??" I asked.

"Yeah, but can you pick me up from the grocery store?" he asked still panting.

"Why are you panting."I finally asked.

"I just got chased by a bunch of dogs. But they stopped once it started raining." he explained.

"Well stop walking near Ms. Johnson's house, and go the other way." I said slowly making sure he understood.

"I don't like going the other way, those old ladies catcall at me and make me feel cheap." he said.

"Well walk fast." I said hanging up the phone.

"How long are we staying there."Gabrielle asked.

"I don't know the longest a week at most, just enough to lay under the radar for awhile." I said.

The rest of the car ride to the store was quiet. The only sound was the whisper of the heat as it blew out from the A/C unit and the patter of Gabrielle's fingers tapping on her phone as she texted.

We finally pulled up into the parking lot of a little grocery store.

"Stay in the car, I'm going to go get Ashton. " I said taking my seat belt off.

"So, that's his name?" she stated in realisatoin.

"Yeah. And do you want anything?" I asked grabbing my wallet.

"Just get me a bag of Cheetos." she said. I got out of the car, leaving the car running andjogged into the store.

I ran to the snack aisle grabbing a bag of puffed and regular Cheetos.

"Aye, Lucas." Ashton yelled from the other end of the aisle.

"In the flesh." I said walking up to him and giving him a hug.

"Is that girl in the car?" he asked.

"Yeah, so hurry up." I rushed.

"Go to register 4, I heard the cashier has a thing for me, and I want extra coupons." he said.

"That girl is 16, let her do her homework." I scolded him.

"No, I said the girl on the 4th register, her name is Bradley and she's like 19." He said.

Once we were done getting our things rung up and payed for I turned my head to tell Ashton something.

"Oh and Ashton don't flirt with her. I got dibs. Oh and just a warning if she pukes don't make a big deal about it." I said seriously motioning my hand over to Gabrielle.

"Okay." he said defensively.

"Get in the backseat." I said climbing into the driver seat.

"Gabrielle, Ashton. Ashton,Gabrielle." I introduced them.

"Hey." they said simutaneously looking at each other.

"Did you get my chips?" Gabrielle asked me.

"Yeah. Puffs or basic?" I asked.

"Puffed." she said as Ashton passed her the chips.

"Feed me some." I whined once she opened the bag.

"You can have one." she said.

"Come on, I at least want nine."I said as she put one in my mouth.

"Beggers can't be choosers." she said.

"You're mean." I said chewing.

"Oh well." she said smiling.

"You two are so cute together." Ashton stated.

"We aren't...... together." Gabrielle said awkwardly.

"Well you could have fooled me." Ashton said.

Gabrielle grabbed the aux cord and started playing a song.

"What song is this?" I asked.

"It's Break Up In A Small Town by Sam Hunt." she said.

"I love this song, but it is so stupid." Ashton said.

That was the last thing any of us said as we continued the drive to Ashton's house.
