You stand silent. The spotlight clicks and it's time. You break into a nervous sweat and you feel a single drop go down your neck. You squirm and tug at the collar of your costume. You know all eyes are on you. Your heart rate is going to go through the roof! You feel the nervousness ripple through you. You think back to all of the practice you've put in, but it's all a muddle. The stage hand gives you your cue. Then all at once it all goes away. The crowd is no longer there. There is no spotlight or stage. It's is just you and the lines you have practiced so much, you can say them in your sleep. You take a deep breath and open the play.
