"I sometimes wonder what's wrong with you..." He mumbled, taking my backpack from my arms.
"Nothing is wrong with me Jack, I am perfectly fine." I told him, taking my bag out of his hands.
"Can I at least walk you home?"
"I can handle myself, Jack, but thank you for offering." I slammed my locker shut, locking it and walking away. I was nudged and shoved by kids trying to get out of school, I hated this. Being seventeen sucked.... A lot.
I don't hate Jack I thought to myself as I made the short trek to my house, He's... He's just really perfect sometimes. Too perfect for me...
I was snapped back into reality when someone shouted behind me, shouting words I couldn't make put until they came closer.
"Sabrine!" The familiar voice shouted, "Sabrine!" I turned, seeing my friend Jayn running in her platform heels to catch up to me.
"What?" I asked, stopping to wait for her.
"I..." She stopped, breathing heavily, "I... Oh my God... Gimme a second." She caught her breath, standing up straight. Even in her heels, I was still taller than her.
"You really don't exercise, do you?" I asked her, beginning to walk again.
"Not really, no. But I saw you with Jack!" She exclaimed, seeming overjoyed with the fact that we'd spoken.
"And?"
"What did you guys talk about!?"
"He said he wonders what's wrong with me, which didn't make any sense. But I said I was fine, and he asked if he could walk me home ~ "
"Why the hell did you say no!?" She shouted, cutting me off.
"First off, don't curse. And second, I didn't feel like walking home with him."
"Sorry, but why would you do that? I know how much you like him, Sabrine..."
"Yeah, well I don't want him to know that."
"Why?"
"He's the most popular guy in school... I wouldn't have a chance!"
"You've got silky black hair down to your knees... What guy wouldn't want that?"
"Hair doesn't have anything to do with it, Jayn."
"Mmhmm... Guys like long hair, it's a scientific fact. Not only do you have that, but you have absolutely gorgeous cocoa skin."
"It's not about looks! It's about personality, and how the person makes you feel."
"Not in high school it doesn't!"
"It's fifty fifty."
"In your eyes."
