Smiling widely I sat at an empty lunch table, with no food in front of me. One of my earplugs sat on my ear and was softly playing twenty-one pilots. I was a little obsessed with their music. No I was legitimately obsessed with what they made and basically every indie/ rock band in existence
I could barely hear the words, but I mouthed them to the beat of the rhythm. This was definitely my favorite part of the day.
While my classmates were supposed to be in class, I ate lunch early, usually outside. I didn't need a gym period anyway, so it worked out. Today it had been raining, so we ate in the same deserted hallway. Tyler fed me an early school lunch, specially made just for me. We discussed serious matters, like if Justin Bieber would end up going back to Selena. And if maybe one of the teachers here was really a timelord. You know all the really important stuff in life. Now I sat all alone at an empty table with only my music to keep me company. Tyler was off somewhere on his lunch break, while I was allowed to "socialize" with my peers.
I closed my eyes, finally feeling relaxed. I softly sang some of the lyrics and when the fast hard-core rapping came I yelled, just a little, though.Seconds later, a tray was slammed down in front of me, causing my eyes to fly open. An unfamiliar face smiled at me. Ugh, I hate these pranks.
"You want me to pretend to cry for your friends? Or do you want me to look down in shame?"
A sort of puzzlement crossed his face."What?" he asked, as he nervously laughed. He tried to smile. His lips turned up and then awkwardly turned back down when I didn't return the smile.
"Oh come on. Don't start playing games. I know this is either a prank or a dare from your friends." I said in an angry tone.
He chuckled and said, "Oh believe me it's not. I just thought you would be interesting to get to know." This time he smiled for real. His chocolate brown eyes seemed to light up.
I shook my head slowly. "Prove it."
He smirked again and nodded. "Oh, I will." His brown hair peeked out from under a gray beanie. It had no purpose in the summer, so I guess he was making a fashion statement. Great for him.
"Well for starters I know you have the most ironic last name ever, Tracie Walker." He added now smirking more. I didn't know if he was flirting with me, but all the signs I'd learned from tv shows pointed to yes, and for that reason, I was thoroughly confused.
Nevertheless, I chuckled and nodded. "All right... How do you know that? Are you stalking me? You're not in any of my classes as far as I'm concerned."
He laughed, as music danced in and out of my ears. "Actually Danny told me about me. Uh, I mean Dan told me. And I thought it would be interesting to get to know you. You seem pretty cool, fun, and confident.""No one told me it was compliment city over here," I added.
"And you're funny too."
"I like to consider myself more sarcastic than funny."
"Well okay then, sarcasm it is."

"Your parents actually let you go skydiving?!"
He nodded and I shook my head in disbelief. "How does it feel? Scary?" I ask, my head moving a bit closer to his.
He smiled, "It was the best feeling in the world! I felt so free. I could see everything and everyone." He said, looking far off.
He was remembering himself flying, something that I do everyday."That sounds... Amazing. Maybe I could go skydiving. Someday." I added almost in a whisper.
He smiled apologetically and in an attempt to cover up the awkwardness, stuffed another fry in his mouth. I laughed. He continued to eat, his eyes watching me with concentration. We both burst out laughing, fries spewing from his mouth onto the table. I made a disgusted face and that made him laugh even more. I smiled and realized that it had been genuine. The subject moved from random thing to thing. Stories, memories, dreams, even fandoms. Everything. He even mentioned this one time when his brother had shot milk out of his nose, and it sprayed all over a teacher.
I laughed so much that I probably did look like the crazy disabled girl everyone thought I was. But I didn't care.Since I was with him.
God Tracie, stop it! It's been one day and you're already swooning over two guys.

I watched him get up as the bell rang.
"Hey! You never told me your name!" I yelled after him as he started to walk away.
We had talked the whole lunch hour and I couldn't believe it had slipped my mind to ask him for his name. He made me laugh. I made him laugh. Mostly me, with my "sarcastic comments." We had a lot of things in common, which made it even better. I didn't know what to think."Jackson... Jackson Castillo," he commented as he walked backwards.
He grinned and stumbled over a table. He looked back to catch his step and looked back up at me with a nervous laugh. I laughed and he gave me a thumbs up. "I'm okay."
I smiled again and he walked away, waving goodbye. My heart sunk a little as he disappeared from sight.
__________________________________Only one day back in school and I already made three new friends. I smiled.
Dan was funny, and I had to admit a little dumb. But that made him Dan.
And then there was Tyler. He was perfect.Get these thoughts out of your head!
And Jackson. Ah, Jackson was just... He was perfection times a 100.
Stop it Tracie!
I laughed. The life of a paralyzed girl sure was complicated.
