~_~_~_Reader's P.O.V. (First Person)_~_~_~Levi grabs his phone and puts it on speaker.
"You may continue now," he says.
The cop resumed,"Yes, as I was saying it seems that the killer likes to commit the murders inside the victims houses. The doors and windows show no sign of forced entry. We also searched for prints and haven't found anything, not even a partial. The autopsy report shows that each of the victims were stabbed three times and had slit throats. It, as in the killer, also closes the victims' eyes post mortem, most likely just before they leave."
"Hey brat, what can you conclude from this?" Levi asks me.
"First of all, you didn't ask me if I wanted to become your apprentice, but considering I want to become a detective, this is good practice. I'll give it a try."
Another lie. I needed a good explanation for giving a smart answer. This is a detective after all. It would seem weird for a normal citizen to decipher everything without studying for the job.
"Well, come on already. I'm waiting."
"Since it looks like there is no forced entry, this person must have people skills, such as an ability to blend in and get along with others. From not finding prints, we can conclude that the killer is smart and is cleaning up after itself. The slit throats and stabbings show that the killer is releasing its rage upon the victims, but the closing of the eyes indicate that it also feels remorse for doing so."
(A/N: I think I spend way too much time watching Criminal Minds on Netflix.lol)"Good job," he says patting my head,"You're not such an idiot after all. You know, I could pull some strings to get you into a college meant just for detectives."
"No thanks. I'd prefer to get there on my own."
"Fine, suit yourself."
We arrive at the police station. Levi exits the car and walks to the sidewalk curb on my side of the vehicle. He opens my car door.
"Seriously, consider my offer. You wouldn't become my secretary. I wouldn't pay for your education just for that to happen, it would be a waste. I believe you are the one."
He gives me twenty dollars to pay for the cab and leaves. A look of shock and bewilderment was plastered on my face and the thought of 'did he really just say that?' crossed my mind.
He almost made me want to give up killing. Maybe I could survive like Dexter. (A/N: another Netflix tv series reference) I was considering, but I'm not one for change. I don't want to give up my ways. I guess that means I have to introduce him to my world. And I know exactly how to do that.
~_~_~_Time Skip_~_~_~
I went to the address on detective Ackerman's business card. I made sure to park a block away, just in case. Why would one guy even need such a big house? Clearly it was well managed and the lawn was well kept. It surprised me. Up until now I had been scouting out that woman's crappy apartment building, but now it was time to send my plan into action.
I walked up to the front door and knocked. Rule one of breaking and entering: make sure no one is home. No one answered, so I knocked again and waited a bit more. Still, nothing. Rule two: make sure there aren't any nosy neighbors or passerby walking their dogs. Luckily, this was a fairly quiet neighborhood. Rule three: always come prepared. If the door was locked, and it was, now was officially the time to bring out the special tools: bobby pins. After a few attempts, the door flew open revealing recently polished wooden floors.
You would think a detective would have an alarm system of some sorts, but apparently not. I relocked the door and closed it behind me. Time to take a closer look at his personal life. A little distance down the hall, there was a desk. It held a lamp and three neatly framed photographs.
One photo had two young children, a redhead and dirty blonde. Were these his children? If they were, the near perfect state of his house didn't prove it. Another photo held three teens; a boy with brown hair and teal eyes, a girl with black hair and a scarf, and another boy with blonde hair. The three of them looked to be a couple years younger than me. The third picture captured a grumpy Levi, in his police years, surrounded by two other police officers. The tall blonde had one of his muscular arms over Levi's shoulder, while the woman with glasses and brown hair was purposely messing up Levi's hair.
I moved on to a room that was more well kept than the last; the kitchen. As soon as I stepped into the room, my eyes instantly found shiny pots and pans hanging from hooks on the walls. All the dishes were clean and put away. There weren't even any dirty bowls in sink.
A mouthwatering smell drafted through the room, leading me to a crockpot on the counter. I opened the glass lid which released steam and allowed the sound of boiling broth to appear. Inside the crockpot was sausage, green beans, and potatoes. It was a delicious dinner my mother used to make. I wonder if it tastes the same.
I searched through his cabinets until I found a bowl, fork, and ladle. Using said items I carefully served myself some food, though not a noticeable amount. I sat down at the table and took a bite. My taste buds experienced pure bliss with every bite. This was the best food I had ever tasted. So he knows how to cook, that's perfect lover material in my opinion.
Soon the bowl was empty. I washed my dishes in the sink and put them away. Hopefully the sink would be dry before he arrived home or else he would know someone was here.
Now was the most boring part of this whole thing. The waiting. But where should I hide? I can't hide somewhere in the kitchen or the living room. There isn't really a spot that wouldn't be obvious. Let alone the fact that he would arrive home from work and still be very alert.
Then where would a person be least alert? Where is a person most relaxed? The bedroom...or bathroom, especially if one lives alone.
Author's Note
