Part 2
"Uh sorry," He said with a voice that in my ears resembled the sound of the wind in the leafs "I really didn't mean to pry, it's just that well um," he blushed a very light shade of rose and gave me a cocky smile "This painting is very beautiful, was what I wanted to say I guess."
Now his mouth was a full on grin, he then shook his head so his lengthy hair fell in his eyes and said "Hi I'm Andrade, I didn't quite introduce myself in that wobble of a speech there, so hi."
He chuckled and stretched out his hand to shake mine, I took his hand in wonder and shook it lightly, Andrade huh? The Greek name that means strong and courageous, who would've guessed. "Hello" I said "I'm Mel, and thank you for the compliment."
My brows creased again as I asked "Are you new here, well okay scratch that, of course you're new here, what I actually wanted to know is where you come from I think,"
I rolled my eyes at my own, very lame, attempt at keeping this conversation rolling, but surprisingly he pulled out a chair, gestured for me to start painting and started telling me about himself.
"Well to answer your first question, actually I'm not new here, I'm new at this school, my parents taught me home until last year, so I am from this town. I have actually never been out of Florida which I myself consider very sad. Um I actually don't know anyone from this school, and I have no idea where everything is, it took me approximately 20 minutes to find the toilet, so when I finally found it, I had no time to use it." He grinned at me, and winked.
"I have very little sense of directions I probably should add, just so you don't think I'm this bad at everything."
I looked at him after finishing the sky on my painting, there had been a short silence in the conversation, so I decided to pick it up.
"Well, everything on this school are actually totally and very much not logical, for instance in what world is it logical to place all the windows that high?" I said pointing at the classroom windows "And I don't know which is worst, that they're the only possible exit if the school burns, or that they actually don't open even though they're probably too far up to reach, so unlike any other school the students here actually hope that it doesn't burn" I grinned at him.
"Welcome to East Destin High Andrade" I said, and although it was dripping irony I actually meant it.
He laughed, and boy was that laughter something I could get used to hearing "Haha, I can hear that this is something you have speculated a lot in Mel, but I'll give you this; you really do know how to make a fella feel welcome."
He smiled warmly at me, and for the second time that day I really questioned my sanity, what in Hades was that I was feeling.
I had never in my entire existence felt anything but warmth for human beings, this had got to be because of lack of sleep.
Yes that was it I decided, nothing more, so I allowed myself to return the smile.
Then I turned to my painting and began on the poor man's eyes, I hadn't noticed before, but that blue color I had used was too much like Mirabel's, and there was no way in Hades that I would change a man like that, so I started without even realizing it to change the man's features yet again, this time his eyes were the second most beautiful emerald green I had ever seen, his features slowly turned into something that I vaguely recognized, too caught up in my painting to think more of it.
Then as I returned to the real world I felt a couple of eyes in my back, I turned around to find the man of my painting staring at me with those devastatingly beautiful eyes, that was when I realized that I had totally forgotten about Andrade, and that I, without knowing it, had painted him.
