In My Safe Place

The patter of raindrops.

Like my falling tears.

The soft drip drip drip

As it falls on my umbrella

It mixes with my salty tears as I put down the umbrella

Soft grass surround my sneakers

Just like the harsh trees seem to surround and protect me.

Little do the trees know, that some things can't be fixed and protected.

But here I am safe

Safe from the harsh words that follow me in the hall,

Safe from the comments that my siblings sneer to me

In my safe place.
