Chapter 1

It had been a week since Nathan and Spinelli had boxed and battled for Maxie.

Nathan was at Kelly's sat in his room that he rented and had rented since January. He thought back on everything he had lost the day he agreed to fight for Maxie after Spinelli had set the challenge of a duel - the girl of dreams, his perfect match or so he had thought for a long time, his one true love; his soul mate. But he could never compete with Maxie's true love her other half - the father of her child no matter how much he loved her she would always love him and that was something that he couldnt stand to watch. Maxie didnt even believe that he wouldnt want to battle for her heart - he'd rather walk away then to think of her as an object or prize that is being fought over to be won.

Nathan was taken from his thoughts when his phone buzzed.He picked up his phone and saw that it was text from Dante 'hey Nate how you doing since, the boxing match last week'.

Nathan thought about what he was going to say to Dante before he answered message. Maybe he needed to catch him up on what is going on in person. He sent a quick message back 'Are you busy tonight, do you fancy going for a beer?'

Dante replied 'No i'll meet you at the Floating Rib in 10minutes'

Nathan replied 'Ok thanks see you in 10'

At the Floating Rib 10minutes later.

Nathan arrived first and asked the barman for two beers. He sat at the bar waiting for Dante to arrive and it was then seconds later that he saw him walk in. He passed along the beer to Dante and they both walked over to one of the booths to sit.

A waitress walked over to ask if they wanted a menu.

Nathan said 'yeah we'll have the big sharing platter of ribs, BBQ chicken and all the sides.'

The waitress said that she would have that out to them soon.

While they waited for their food to come, Dante asked Nathan about what he wanted to talk about.Nathan said that he was thinking about leaving Port Charles since he and Maxie were over, and he didnt want to be running into her all the time having to see her happy with someone else.

Dante asked Why are you just giving up on Maxie so easy?

Nathan said I cant be the person to keep Maxie from being a family with her daughter I love her too much to stand between them. Maxie wants to be with Georgie and she still loves spinelli too. What sort of a person would i be to not want her to be happy with the people she loves.

Dante said Maxie loves you, dont you know that.

Nathan replied Yes i know she loves me but not enough to choose me. I asked her to make a decision between me and Spinelli. She couldnt choose so i chose for her. She couldnt decide who her heart lies with so i decided to walk away instead of waiting around for her to decide not to be with me. I let her go before she would decide that she didnt want me anyway. She has always loved Spinelli, i knew that from the first day i met her, alright i didnt know his name then, but Maxie told me about how the love of her life had moved away with her daughter.

Dante said But you two were happy together before Spinelli returned to town. When i spoke with Maxie at Kelly's where i accidentally told her about the boxing match when I thought she must of found out. Maxie told me that she had come to a decision about who she wanted to be with.

Nathan asked Well did she tell you which one of us she had picked.

Dante answered No Maxie said she couldnt tell me before she had told one of you.

Nathan said Well after she turned up at the gym and we were talking she still seemed undecided about who she wanted to be with. Also she didnt believe me when i said that the fight was Spinelli's idea.

Dante spoke shocked Well before she left Kelly's i told her the fight wasnt your idea.

Nathan then said Well Maxie must not of believed you either.She didnt believe me and it took her asking Sonny whose idea it was for her to see that i was telling the truth, but it was too late by then as i saw how Maxie felt and she didnt trust what i had been saying. Which means she doesn't trust me or what I say.
