Descending Love

It was morning when Scarlett woke up to crisp winter air. People usually don't like winter because of the bitter cold temperature. But to Scarlett, it actually brought a certain warmth to her and her heart. Mostly because of all the significance that happens in the Winter. Not only was she born in the Winter, but every person she met that is dear to her she met in the Winter.

Speaking of such people, Dominic her personal butler knocks in her door.

"Come in Dom, I'm already awake." And so he does. He opens in the door and stand in the threshold. Raven black hair like hers and with the same blue eyes, one would think they were siblings. But they were unfortunately born in two different worlds. So he stands there, in his full 6'2" height, and firm frame, with an expressionless face.

"Good morning my lady, breakfast is ready."

"Dom, I have been telling you to stop addressing as such long ago. You're even older than me." Dom was in his prime 22, while Scarlett had just turned 19.

"And I have been telling you that I cannot. I will always call you my lady, until you ascend the throne, in which I will then call you My Queen." Scarlett just rolls her eyes, and starts to get out her queen sized bed. Though it's a difficulty with all the pillows that are scattered across her bed. Almost tripping over one, Dominic rushes over to catch her by the waist. "Are you alright Scar?!" He looks at her with, face laced with concern, and scans her body for any sign of harm.

Scarlett just starts to laugh, and he notices what happened. "You did that on purpose so that I would call you Scar. You know I don't like it when you do that."

"I know, but when your guard is down is the only time you say my real name." She starts to pout and Dominic cannot hold a grudge against that. He lets out a sigh and just nods. With her victory, Scarlett smiles and beams at Dominic. He smiles too, making her even happier.

She still remembers the day they met. It was bright winter day, the Sun was shining and the rays bounced of the snow that had just fallen during the last night. Scarlett knew that something good would happen today, because snow always brings her luck. She saw a white bird flying, and chased it across her garden. Concentrated on the bird, she did not notice the boy standing in her way whom she crashed into.

The boy helped himself up, and just stared at a little 8 year old Scarlett. She outstretched her hand, as a gesture for help. The 11 year old Dominic just stared at the girl who ruined his good clothes and said, "No, I will not help you. You ran into me and ruined my clothes."

Seeing the anger in his face, Scarlett started to cry. She didn't like to get people upset, nor was she used to being reprimanded. Hearing their Princess cry, the staff and the Queen (Scar's birth mother) all came out. When she saw her daughter crying and on the floor, she immediately scooped her up and cradled her, saying its all OK to comfort the shaking child.

When Scarlett calmed, she was put down and scanned the people for the boy she hurt. When she spotted him, she noticed he was standing next to one of the men who baker of the castle. And the man asked, "Are you alright Princess? Would like a cookie?" Hearing his Dad call the girl he was ride to 'Princess' Dominic became horror-struck. "I'm so sorry Princess! I didn't know who you where!"

Scarlett replied, "No, you're right. I crashed into you. Sorry." And she sent him the biggest grin should could possibly make for someone so small. At that moment, Dominic fell in love. He fell in love with the girl that literally knocked him off his feet. He fell in love with the girl who knew when she was wrong, and took responsibility. He fell in love with the girl who's smile, although crooked at the time, was still the most beautiful smile he'd ever seen.

But it wasn't the love of two lovers. No, something just as special but completely different. It was love like a brother to a sister. Of two souls destined to be there for each other, as a means of support and comfort. A love that was as thick as blood, and would never break. And a love that is not always given the attention and importance that it deserves.

To this day, she remained his most precious thing. Even when the queen made him her personal butler, it was not in offence to show their two worlds. But something that she knew they would both benefit from, to give them the ability to always have each other. And when she passed a few months later, Dominic was there when no one else was. He became a symbol of stability and peace, as she became a symbol of warmth and joy to him.

Now looking at them, they are closer than ever being together for 11 years. They became the closest of friends, and he is the older brother that protects her from the world all while spoiling her in affections and sweets.

Hello mellow yellow fellows,

I hope you're not disappointed that the relationship between Scarlett and Dom is only like siblings. She smiles, but Scarlett still has been through a lot. And she needed someone to be there for her, Dominic is her someone. Its like I said, its a love overlooked.

Also, to clear it up:
Scarlett lost her mother when she was 10. Her dad re-married two years later, when she was 12. And she's had Dom since she was 8.
