A boy moves to a new school in 7th grade and meets a chick that soon becomes his best friend. Over the years, he starts to like her, but one day during the high school years she killed herself.
Upset, the boy, now a teen, ran away and found a cave and a fairy inside. The fairy would grant him one wish, she said, and he thought for a moment.
"Send me back to 7th grade so I can change the past."
He goes back in time, but of all the things he tried to change she still killed herself. He returned to the fairy who repeated her behavior and statement of the last time, and without hesitating he repeated his wish.
Over and over again, he went through those years but every time she still killed herself. He was a friend, a lover, an enemy to her, all in different timelines. She killed herself by pills, ropes, cutting each different times of day.
He could not save her.
After she once again took her life, this time right in front of him, he ran crying to the fairy.
"So what you really wish is for her not to kill herself?"
He nodded and was once again sent back in time. This time, he no longer talked or associated himself with her. She got a boyfriend whom she stayed with all throughout highschool. After they graduated, she left with this boyfriend on to a happy life.
Confused, the teen, now a man, that went back in time so often made his way back to the fairy to ask what was going on.
"You wished that she wouldn't kill herself."
She then went on to explain she had to set in motion the only universe in which she doesn't kill herself, and it just so happens that in the only universe that she does not commit suicide, she cannot be with him.
