Alec in wonderland

Chapter 1

Alec was the youngest of 13 children. He had black hair and blue eyes like his mother. He had an adventurous and curious spirit, also like his mother. Alec was young when his mother died, about 8 to be exact. He watched her die of a horrible disease, leaving him with nightmares. His father didn't pay attention to him because of his work, so he had to occupy himself through imagination. He had 8 older brothers and 4 older sisters. He was the one closest to his mother, so it hurt him the most when she died.
Alec's father Jonas was a Duke and had a lot to do, so his children barely saw him. Alec became a wild child because of his broad imagination, and his caretakers couldn't handle him. He would disappear in the mornings after grabbing breakfast, then return filthy for dinner.
Alec's siblings were tutored and waited upon by the staff while Alec was chased by his caretakers. They were taught manners and how to be what their father said was 'proper'. They all began to get married to people of lower class and move along with their lives.
When Alec turned 16, a princess named Isabella III came to choose a husband out of Alec and his brothers. It was a high honor and they could not turn her down, for the money in their household was growing thin. Their father told them they could not turn her down, for it could cause a war between their families.
The boys lined up outside of their house dressed in their best clothes, all except Alec. He was bathing upstairs, dreading if he was chosen. 'Marriage can hold you back from so much adventure... I just need her to not like me so I won't have to marry her...' He thought as he ran down the stairs, struggling to button his shirt. He lined up next to his brothers, looking as proper as he could. His father came over to him and gave him a look of disappointment. Alec looked at the ground as his father lifted his face and straightened his collar. He stood next to his youngest as a large coach pulled up. The driver helped the guests out, and they were greeted by a fake-smiling Jonas. "Welcome Isabella." He said proudly.
