107 Days Before
"Alright now, we will begin by conversing on The Great Gatsby. Has anyone read it?" Professor Jones asked.
Most of the class raised their hand, including mine.
"Good, so can anyone tell us the base of the story?" I was about to answer the question when someone spoke up.
"The base of the story is love. He loved her, but his past kept catching up to him. And being the good friend that Nick is, he decided to tell us about their love story. He decided to remind us of the bad decisions that we will make in life, but how we will also always find our safe haven." A girl in the front of the room answered. I couldn't see her face as she had her back to me, three rows in front.
"Well it's nice to know that you are now participating in the class Miss Sanders." Well at least I know her last name.
"Usually it's Mister Styles that contradicts." I turned my head away from her and looked back at the professor, "Mister Styles would you like to add anything?" The girl turned around, and that's when I saw her face.
It looked familiar. Really, really familiar, but I just couldn't put a name to it. So much had happened over the past 2 weeks, from parties to homework assignments, and it was all just too much to remember a simple name. Nevertheless, she was beautiful. Blue eyes as blue as the sky, and her slightly long dirty-blonde hair cascaded down her back and shoulders. She had a lot of black on, the only thing in color being her white sweater.
I myself just wore a plaid shirt with a black tank top, and jeans with boots. I had decided not to try today.
"Mister Styles?" I struck out of my daze, turning back to the teacher. The girl looked at me again, her eyes growing big as she quickly turned around and faced the other way, her head ducking slightly.
"Uh, no, I think her answer is fine and sets the book perfectly." I said.
"Alright," He said turning back to the class. "Well, I have put a link up for you to watch on my website. Please everyone make sure to watch it, you will have a 15 page essay to write about it soon." The whole class grunted, he just rolled his eyes and dismissed the class.
I put my laptop back into my bag, and stood up walking to the girl. Once she saw that I was walking to her, she quickly grabbed her stuff and walked out the door. I just stood at her desk, shocked basically. I didn't even know her and she acted as if I had done something wrong. Does that even make sense?
I shook my head, walking out of the class to the café when Louis bumped into me.
"Harreh!" He screamed into my ear.
"Loueh!" I screamed back.
"Well done. I have thought you well." He said, bowing down to me. I rolled my eyes.
"Anyways. What's up?" He handed me a flyer.
"Derek's Party! Bring friends, drinks, and yourself! Be there by 10." I read out loud.
"So, you coming with me?"
"I don't know. I have a lot of homework..."
"Oh come on! The last time you came to a party was on Sunday and it's Wednesday." He pouted. "Please?" He did the puppy eyes, and Louis had mastered them. So of course, I couldn't resist and agreed.
We walked into the café, walking over to the register. Louis ordered our usual, two chocolate chip muffins and tea with 2 sugars each.
We went to our table, sitting down and digging into our food. Louis had literally dug into his food, crumbs everywhere.
He blew them all on me, and I gave him the finger. I looked around the room, trying to distract myself, when I saw the girl again. My eyes settled on her, she was talking to her friend and seemed a bit too excited when her friend showed her a flyer. It was the same one that Louis had showed me.
"What are you looking at?" Louis said, waving his hand in front of my face. I pushed it away, "No one."
He followed my gaze, and then his eyes turned wide as he looked back at me. "Harry, oh my gosh. Do you know who she is?"
I shook my head. Why did it seem like a lot of people know her? It wasn't the first time that someone was shocked that I didn't know a person, but it wasn't exactly my fault. If I wasn't studying, I would be in my dorm writing. If I wasn't there, I would be at a party or a bar.
"Harry. That girl is crazy wild. She only goes to senior parties, rarely ever to sophomore or junior ones. She is the hottest girl on campus and hardest to get. She literally will kiss a guy, then throw him aside, and yet people still go after her. She is like a goddess, even I wish I could get with that." He looked back at her, biting his lip. I looked back at the girl. She was laughing, her eyes closed, but then they opened and we were looking at each other. She quickly turned her head the other way, and resumed her conversation. A few seconds later she got up to leave, looking back at me then quickly leaving. I was about to follow after her when Laura, my girlfriend showed up.
"Guess who?" A voice behind me said, their hands covering my eyes.
"I don't like guessing." I said. She slowly removed her hands. Turning my chair around slightly as she bent down and kissed me forcefully on the lips. We were like that for probably 10 seconds, kissing and all, then she pulled away, a small whimper leaving my lips.
"Well, that's my signal to leave." Louis grabbed all his trash and walked away. I waved, "See you at the dorm." Then I say back down, Laura taking her spot next to me.
"So..." She said smiling.
"So..."
"Are you going to the party?"
"Yeah, are you?"
"Yes definitely! We haven't hung out a lot lately and I want to catch up with my boyfriend." She said, her hand that lay on my chest, slowly made it's way down. It stopped on my abdomen.
I cleared my throat, "Uh, yeah. So I guess I'll see you there?" I stood up, grabbing my stuff.
She stood up too, "Yeah, love you." She kissed me again slowly. It was so slow and meaningful; I almost thought that she truly did.
