Summer woke up to find Morty, her younger brother, standing directly next to her bed, whispering her name. She screamed and thrashed about, causing Morty to stumble back and fall.
"Morty!!! What the hell are you doing???"
"Jesus Summer, I'm sorry!"
"Why the hell are you in my room?" she yelled. "I was sleeping! Thats's usually a good sign to not bother someone!"
"O-okay, Summer, I get it," Morty replied, standing up. He rubbed his tailbone, wincing slightly. "So..."
"So..? Why were you in my room, standing over me and quietly chanting my name?"
"Well-well now you're just making me s-sound creepy."
"You were being creepy."
"I said I was sorry!"
"Alright already. Just, what do you want?"
"Well, there's this box. And in the box are pictures of us, a-and stuff. Like, our birth certificates, and baby books and crap."
"Okay..."
"And, last night, Rick was- took a bunch of stuff out of the box."
"Aww, that's so sweet. I never knew Grandpa was so sentimental," Summer smiled.
"Well, see, t-that's the thing, Summer. He isn't. And I'm really worried that, like, he's taken that stuff because, for... I-I don't know. It's just, something is weird."
"Oh my god, Morty," Summer sighed. She slumped back in to bed, shaking her head. She really wished he would stop bothering her about their Grandpa Rick. He'd been in dangerous situations before and knew how to take care if himself, she didn't see the reason to worry. Although she did suppose he was acting out of the ordinary... "Grandpa is fine."
"Come on, Summer! I mean, y-y-you can't just ignore this for much longer! Rick is acting really weird, and I wish you would help me figure out why." And with that he stormed out of her room. Summer laid in bed for a little while longer, thinking about everything Morty had recently reported to her about their Grandpa. The sun began to creep through the window and shine in her eyes. She finally sat up and started to get ready for the day, now unable to stop thinking about Rick.+++
Morty came downstairs and entered the dining room, disappointed that Rick wasn't yet there. Jerry sat at the table, playing with his iPad. Morty sat down at the table and stared at the wall. Beth then entered with a plate of breakfast for herself and Jerry.
"Oh hey, sweetie," she said. She placed the plate meant for Jerry in front of Morty.
"Thanks," Morty said, his voice cracking. Jerry looked up and stood.
"I guess I'll just get my own breakfast."
Beth ignored him and started to eat hers. As they ate, Morty had an idea.
"Hey Mom?"
"Yeah?" Beth responded, covering her mouth, which was full of food.
"Do you know where Rick is?"
"Uhm," she swallowed her food. "No, I don't. Why?" And then, as cliché as it was, Rick walked in, a plate of breakfast in one hand. He sat down at the table and started eating. Beth looked at Morty and gestured to Rick. "There you go."
"What?" Rick said, his eyes darting from Beth to Morty.
"Morty was just wondering where you were."
"But of course he was. He doesn't seem to do much of anything else except maybe complain and annoy me."
"Jesus, Dad. Be nice..."
"Whatever," he said, returning his attention to eating. Jerry then walked in, a plate of breakfast in his hand, and sat next to Rick. Rick squinted disapprovingly and scooched his chair away from Jerry. The family sat in silence for a while before Jerry spoke up.
"So Rick," he said. "What sort of crazy shennanigans have you been in lately? It seems like it's been a while since the existence of the planet was threatened."
"Yeah, Rick. Where have you been going?" Morty spoke up, glaring at him. Rick looked up and made an annoyed face.
"Why does everyone have such a big boner for me all of a sudden? Jesus..."
"We're just curious, Rick. No need to be hostile."
"He's actually kinda right, Dad. Why are you being so defensive?"
"I'm sorry, do my ears deceive me?" Jerry said, turning to Beth. "Did you just say I'm right?"
"Oh God, Jerry, eat your fucking eggs," she shook her head.
"Look, everyone just stop asking so many questions. Maybe the reason none of you are informed anymore is because that's when all the s-EUGHH-hit hits the fan."
"You're hiding something!" Morty yelled. Everyone stopped and stared at him. Rick narrowed his eyes and put down his fork.
"Well Morty, you certainly seem to have the biggest eRICKtion out of everyone. Haha, hear that?? It's like erection, like how I said earlier with the Rick-boners! Yeah!" he stood up. Beth and Jerry started to laugh as he looked around expectantly. Morty glared at him. Rick then cleaned up his eating area as the laughter ceased. "Anyway, good breakfast, Beth. I swear you make the best damn eggs I ever had." And with that, he left the room.Morty picked up and followed Rick, now angry. He entered the garage where Rick was about to go through a portal.
"Rick!" Morty yelled. He looked at Morty and groaned, closing the portal.
"Morty, I hope you realize this is the most irritating you've ever been."
"I don't care! Why did you take our baby photos?"
"Wh- you little turd," Rick shook his head. "You came in here after I left didn't you."
"So what if I did?"
"Ughhh."
"Answer my question!"
"Fine! Goddammit no wonder I haven't taken you on any adventures lately, you're so fucking annoying. I didn't take any baby pictures, I was hiding some money in there. I know you and you're shitty family like to snoop around in here and I don't want anybody stealing it. There, happy?" He explained. Morty stared at him, slightly hurt. He turned on his heel and walked away, without another word.A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry this chapter isn't as good as the last, I've been really busy planning out future chapters.
