Chapter 7 The Maze

... Maze.

"If you get past the maze and through the five waves, you may live on your Mary lil' lives, at the end getting a prize" A booming voice echoed in the little box I was in." Today joining us will be..., Ryan, Luna, Dawn, Lillith,...," it went on and on until the boxes we were all in the air forming a diamond in the middle of a giant place that went out so far I couldn't see to the end.

We were dropped in water and some were rather unlucky to have been dropped from a higher area into nothing except death.

We marked a location in air before getting dropped. We all ran to a pod free for only our areas so we all ran. Dawn and Ryan made it there first due to a minor set back. I saw blood and guts smeared all over my walls and screaming behind me before I heard maniacal laughs a while before my running feet.

I met them there with cuts on my arms from thorny bushes and vines on the borders of my walls.

"Stick together no matter what!!"

"Watch out here comes the first wave!" The speakers above us squealed.

I saw a giant explosion in one of the pods following another and another next thing I know, the only pod left was ours.

"We need to go, NOW!!"

We ran behind instead of in front so we didn't get trapped. Glass started falling from the sky. I figured we had to have been in a glass globe thing that kept us away and now when I looked up I could see it slowly shrinking. The walls near us started to crumble and the tops of them fell in giant chunks we ran and ran until we were out of breath. We saw a cabin and started to rummage the place.

We found backpacks full of supplies to last us forever, and a giant crate taller than me that folded into a small cube packing all the stuff into it into a smaller area. We prepped the cabin for tsunamis, storms, fires. We had everything. Well, that's what we planned to do.

We packed everything in backpacks and found all the health products so we could treat our wounds.

We taught ourselves to survive for twelve years and I'm now 28, Ryan is 30, Dawn is now 22. We formed a group with a couple that got kidnapped, 4 kids and 3 adults.

It was wave 5. Wave 2, 3 and 4 were storms, disease and a poisonous vapor spread through the air. This had to be the worst, it was a serum that rained down and either sucked the blood out of you or made you imagine things, things from your worst nightmares. And if your nightmares were different then they were before all this that because they were guiding you through the maze but only 5 people out of the 1000 that were still in there got that chance.

The couple had a baby and we spent the 1 we could have in peace taking care of him and he is only 4. He was born into the maze not knowing what it was like on the outside.

The 5 people that got to live were announced.

"Destiny, Kylee, Ryan, Calvin and Luna"

"Where is Dawn!?!? She has to live past that. She's come all this way. No!!
You have to announce her!! She deserves this!! Take me instead!!" My voice broke and shattered.

It went past and she went through a slow, painful death as I had to watch. Somehow, the simulation was over and Dawn was still alive. But Crying. She pulled a gun out of her pocket, put a single bullet in and pointed it to her head.

"I can't stop, it's..."

I screamed and yelled as she ended her own life with one bullet.

I just sat there Crying over her body for days as if I were in a coma looking at her dead body.

Kylee and Destiny died over a boobytraps left at the end and I finally started walking carrying Calvin on my back.

He went through a disease that killed him towards the end.

It was just me and Ryan.
