Tim McGraw was Taylor's first single, and first song in her first album self title Taylor Swift. As you can tell, it is not about Tim McGraw. It is about her boyfriend who was a senoir and he had to leave for collage. She knew they were gonna break up.
Taylor wrote this song when she was a freshmen. When she had her developing deal with a record label, she sang this song, and they said "That's your first single." Of course, Taylor was happy.
At the ACMs, she sang this to Tim McGraw. He liked the song, and it was the first time they EVER met. Later, they performed a song together called "Highway Don't Care".
