My grandfather

I remember when I was younger my family and I would come here on summer vacations. We would stay with my moms parents.

I remember I would always see my grandfather watering the yard. My grandfather loved working on his yard. He would always make sure the grass was bright green and healthy.

I had no clue that something as simple as grass would have such an immense meaning behind it.

I remember one summer night there were a lot of fireflies out, and I had never seen so many at once. It was dark enough that you could see the fireflies. I ran around the front yard trying to catch them. The grass was so thick, and felt so great under my feet.

Now I remember that with an ache in my heart, because now I know that the grass was, in a way, my grandfather.

However, like my grandfather, that grass isn't around anymore. The grass started to fade away a year and a half ago. My grandfather's heath went down hill, and he could no longer work on the yard. My grandfather past away on Monday morning. I tried to go to school, but as soon as I got there I broke down. I miss him so much!
