Chapter 1

Briana Aminta, that's my name, but my friends call me Bri. I'm special is what my parents think and they're right but not exactly in the way you think. Fire, that's what I do. Let me clarify, I was born with the power to make and control fire. Yeah i don't know where or how I got it but it's there.

I'm 16 and I live in a large 2 story house in New York with my family. There is my mom, Peggy, my dad, Eric, and my little sister, Kelsy, who is 8 years old. Me and Kelsy don't fight much like most sisters do, that's probably because my secret keeps us close. She's the only person who knows other than by BFF, Harleigh.

Harleigh and I are complete opposites. She's pretty much emo and i'm what she likes to call "prissy". Everyone questions it, I question it but we're bff's no matter what. We are both Juniors at Lessie More High School, LMHS, home of the Bulldogs. We've been stuck to each other since 3rd grade, and when I told her about my power she said she wasn't going anywhere.

"Come on Bri, that was the bell." Leigh(Harleigh) said pulling on my arm.

"What class do we have next? I forgot again." she questioned as we walked out the classroom.

"Leigh come on, I've already told you five times in the last twenty minutes. How do you keep forgetting?"

"I'm too lazy too remember, remember?"

"Yeah,whatever. Come on we have ELA next period, then lunch. Try to at least try in this class, okay? I don't want you failing 11th grade. Lord knows I won't be able to get through 12th next year without you."

"Blah blah lunch. Blah blah blah. Yep that's all I heard."

"Come on you re-re." I said pulling her in the classroom.

A/N hey so yeah I didn't post this chapter last night like I said I would but I fell asleep typing so yeah. Also it's super short I know but the chapters will get longer the farther into the book I get.
